I was using my radio today.
I have a 2004 RX8 with Nav and Bose.
I recently installed the OEM ipod kit.

Well when I chose the EX (ipod) source It plays. When I wanted to turn it off my NAV screen showed me this...

Does anyone know what this is? Is there something installed here that I donot know about?

I did a search and came up empty.

Never seen this screen as I don't have the factory ipod adapter. My questions is... have you or anyone else tried to play movies from an ipod through the NAV screen. Is it even possible? Would it be able to be played on this TV1 screen?

Thanx...

wait so when you buy the oem ipod thing, its not like a radio transmitter? its actually integrated into your nav system? how is the sound? is it bad like the fm transmitters?

My best guess, which may be completely wrong, is that the navigation system is common between US and Japan (with the exception of the discs for the maps of course). The Japan JDM RX-8 had a TV tuner option to pick up local OTA broadcasts and I'm guessing that the sound was output through EX1. If this were the case, it would make sense that the video switch at the same time as the audio when put in EX1 mode.
If this were the case, it seems you just "tricked" the system into thinking it was getting a signal from the TV tuner since your ipod uses the same input. This coincides with the lilnk foo77 posted. Also helps describe the Japanese character in the picture :-)

and sjshark19, yes, from what I understand the OEM ipod integration kit direct connects to the headunit, but I don't own one. I'm more interested in getting the DICE kit, to reverse engineer it (I don't even have an iPod) and get my microcontroller to send my id3 tags from my car computer to the stock oem screen.
