i recently had a light pop up on my dash that looks like a tire low on air with and exclamation point in the middle. i was told that one of my tires is low on air so i filled each tire. the stupid light is still on and won't go away. any help out there???

I'm guessing it will go away once you turn your car off and back on. (if you filled you tires up to the correct psi.)

thats what i thought too but even after reseting the computer the stupid light remains on. could i have a bad sensor or something??

i have avons on there now and they say max 35psi so i went up to a hair under 30psi

someone correct me if i am wrong, but doesnt the warning light come one when any tire goes under 30 psi. So you may have one tire that is still "low". Try 32 psi

I think I read somewhere that it needs to be over 32 for the sensor to stay off, if you filled to less than 30 you need more. 32-35 keeps it off unless it gets really cold outside.

The TPMS will turn on if the psi is too low or too high. Let the car sit overnight and check the psi in the morning. There should be 32 psi in each tire.

the low and hi are 26 and 52 psi.

Do they really say max 35 psi? The max value on the sidewall is usually higher - like 40 to 50 psi - and is not the recommended inflation pressure. It's the max that a tire installer should use to seat the bead. The proper inflation pressure is what the owner's manual or sticker in the door jamb says - which is 32 psi for an RX-8.

If you have a bad TPMS sensor, figuring out which one is bad can be tough. You'd need a code scanner that reports the psi value from each tire. Then you add/remove air from each tire to figure out which one is which. If you're still under the bumper-to-bumper warranty, take it to the dealer and let them figure it out.

AND............sometimes you have to drive the car for about 5 miles before the light will go off. Sometimes just letting it sit apparently won't do it.....although I have never tried that..............I just go for a drive.

my tpms light went on and arlington mazda let me down. they said they didnt see any codes (even though its been on a week) and it wasnt on for me.

and it wasnt.. the entire ride home it wasnt. the next day it popped on immediately.

Do you have a spare tire in the trunk? Does it have the TPMS sensor in it? Did you check it as well?

Did you check your tire pressures? If they all are set at 32 psi and the light still comes on then one or more tpms is bad.

yeah I would run about 34 or 35 and I think sometiem you have to drive it over 25mph to shut if off if ur still under 30 psi it most likely will b on still becuase it is still considered low

your sig does make a wonderful point indeed but when i bought my 8 at a private sale in NY, the guy had spilled something on it and as u opened the cover all the pages were beyond unreadable. i just havent gotten around to getting a new one from my dealer yet.

you can find your owners manual in pdf form on the mazda website. Its in the owners section. Your tires should be all set to 32 psi when cold. The light will stay on for about 15 minutes of drive time.

Put them around 32-33.

Just slightly more wear in the center of the contact patch.
