Hey ya,
Been lurking for a few weeks. In spite of some of the naysayers best posts :), I purchases a RX-8 today. Got Winning Blue, 6 speed, Grant Touring, in-dash CD changer, rear wing, spare time kit, appearance package and rotary accent package. I will be working through getting some winter tires thanks to your advice.
The only issue I have is that I checked the oil this evening (I’m now at ~200 miles) and I can’t see anything on the dip stick. I’ve certainly checked oil before without issue, so this has me a little confused. I realize I’m jumping the gun on the oil usage, but I want to keep a close eye on it, again based on your comments. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks,
WHealy

Go back and have them make sure it's full. Yeah, you could do it yourself, but who knows what else they missed. Do you by any chance have a "hook" in your drivers side floor mat? There's a hole in the mat and it should have a hook in it...

The oil level light should be on if the oil is lower than the dipstick - it could be that the oil is just really difficult to see when its new. If you lay a paper towel on the dipstick you should see where the level is by where it soaks into the paper.
If there really is no oil on the dipstick, however, you should most definately let the dealer know. I would hope that's not the case, however...
Welcome aboard!
Simon.

Click my sig, head to the events area and read all about it. We put on a full weekend at IRP for rotary vehicles. Drag Racing, AutoX and this year we are adding the road course (at an added cost).
