Hey, i've been thinking lately on considering to purchase a rx-8. Althought I have a question about the packages that come with the vehicle. Are they worth it(GT Package/Appearence etc.)? Or should I just save cash for aftermarket items? - Thanks

I'm glad I got the appearance package - it gives the 8 a "meaner" look! But, in the end, it is all personal preference.

The Grand Touring Package gives all of the creature comforts and then some...meaning...standard, the car comes with AC and CD player, but the Grand Touring throws in everything but the kitchen sink.
Power Driver's seat with leather and heating for both driving and front passanger.
Moon Roof
Homelink auto-dimming rearview mirror
Xenon headlights
BOSE stereo
So ya...it's stuff that you don't need, but they are fun toys.

if your gonna get a car like this you got to get it loaded or you'll always be thinking of the things you wish you had..IMO

The key things to decide on are those which are FACTORY INSTALLED. Your GT, Touring or Sport packages AND the navigation option fit into that grouping. Get these when you buy your car, or forever hold your peace. Top of the line here would be GT with nav.
All the other things can be added later as you wish. The more popular in that grouping is the appearance package, rotary accent package, rear wing, strakes, stereo stuff, aluminum threshholds, etc.

Not me. I got the Sport package and am very happy with it.
It depends on how important leather, moonroof, and Bose are to you. Those are the main, big ticket items in the GT package. None of them is a big deal to me at all, but for some, they're a must. Only you can answer that question.

Audio system is something also to consider. I was confused about this when I bought my car. There are two slots, one above and one below the head unit.
Top Slot: CD player (standard in U.S.), 6-disc CD changer, or MP3/CD player.
Bottom slot: Mini disc player or cassette player.
