View Full Version : Mazsport, yay or nay?

Well after a lot of issues and concerns with Mazsport and its owner, it seems there are a lot of fanboys who are diehard mazsport fans, then some who will never buy from there. Some people have great experiences, some have horrible ones, and some people just deal with it because products are not offered elsewhere.

My question is, how many people would do business there if they had the choice? I think a reputation is the strongest aspect of a business, especially one the size of mazsport. If it were HKS or greddy, a few unhappy people do not make a big difference for them to care. For Mazsport, i think it would greatly affect business if there were more than a handful of unsatisfied customers.

I am not saying i have a preference on anyone nor am saying i will never do business there. I am just concerned with the lack of service and attention from the owner about so many known issues. Who doesnt agree that no matter how busy a business is, customers ANYWHERE are important? Regardless if he only gets 10% business here.. we are still paying customers.

i wont vote for any of the choices here. i have never dealt with MazSport, but i hope to in the FUTURE.

from no more knowledge of the company than what I can gather from here, i would think it a wise decision to sit for a while and see what happens with their dealings over the next few months. There is no doubt that they can and have produced some very excellent quality things for us and have consistently been at the forefront of development as well. But with aspects of there reputation being questioned fairly hard right now, i wouldnt be willing to throw a bunch of money at them. I do however hope to deal with Scott in the future, there are a couple things i would like to have from him eventually.

Are we going to have a poll for every vender out there? I dont think it's fair to single out Mazsport.

not a bad idea... anyone have a vendor in mind that they dont already have a good firm opinion about?? i think that may be they key... many of the other vendors have fairly solid groups, those who have good opinions about said vendor and those who dont...... mazsport is the only obvious one with suxh a large group of uncertainty

No uncertainty Scott has always taken care of me. When I have had problems with the car or something I didn't know.

Mazsport was there for me and not on my dime either....

They will always have my business.

Singling out a single vendor is not fair at all.....

How about the issue with MySQL101 and Pettit remember his issue with his installation?

I do....

Everyone has issues with companies I work Customer Service day in and Day out.

Trust me there are always two sides to the story and the customer doesnt always tell the truth either becasue they are heated and pissed off.

To be fair, I'll list the businesses in the rotary community that can have my business any day:
Mazsport
Racing Beat
Mazmart
RX7.com
KD Rotary
Pineapple
Atkins
Rosenthal Mazda
Trussville
Gotham
Pettit
Mazdatrix
Cobb

I've been around this community for 10 years, not all the vendors out there have I ordered something from, but the above I have and have always been more than happy with the transaction.

If someone isn't listed above, the only reason they're not listed is because I haven't done business personally with them. Any business I haven't yet been a customer for I would weigh. The only opinions I would let sway my decisions regarding any vendor would be from personal references of those I know personally and trust.

^ my list goes like that except there would be
1. no mazsport
2. no Rosenthal mazda
3. no trussville
4. X2 on pineapple cus their rebuild is godlike

Your post seems to be about (unmentioned) issues yet you state absoluetly no specifics. Your profess no preference, but are "concerned..with this and that ...yada ..yada"?

You can't have it both ways. Your poll is bogus IMO (read I won't vote), just a way to try to influence someone who isn't doing what you want perhaps as quickly as you want.... or something.

With no true story (or even your side of one), I suggest you simply haven't the interest or ability to deal with them as you need to to resolve whatever your difficulty is.

I've dealt with Mazsport several times this year and although I've been dismayed by product shipping delays, I'm not privy to their delays caused by suppliers / engineering slips either.

Scott is the only vendor I know that will personally call you on his dime to resolve a problem or give install help. He stands behind everything he sells, no dodging responsibility that I've seen.

Everything that the OP has said could be applied to certain vendors. This thread fails because it is not specific enough.

For example I would never buy anything from Black Halo Racing/MazdaManiac because I don't believe they deserve credit for "improving" existing products. In addition comments that I have seen by MazdaManiac would paint him as both arrogant, and scornful of the ability that people on this board have to reason on their own, without his "helping" hand.

My experiences with Scott, Chris, Sarah, etc at Mazsport have been nothing but positive. They've went the extra mile to help me out.

How about the issue with MySQL101 and Pettit remember his issue with his installation?

I do....

One of their jr level guys did the install of my wideband. The sensor/harness was draped over the exhaust and it melted. I also paid for dyno tuning which wasn't done because their machine was not functional.

HOWEVER

Pettit eventually refunded me for the dyno time and the cost of the sensor and harness.

I have no beef with them because they resolved the outstanding issues I had. I only bring up the issues I had to illustrate that they resolved them to my satisfaction and that they took care of me as a customer. The actual install of the greddy turbo kit was done correctly and I suffered no serious issues from their work.

I've purchased a midpipe from Mazsport, I made the purchase with my eyes open. Yes they have customer service issues, some of which are pretty awful. Do they make a midpipe that is exactly what I was looking for, yes.

I think too many people read 1 or 2 threads about a vendor and then make uniformed purchases. I'm not saying that about anyone who's posted in this thread so back off or I'll cut you!

I almost didn't purchase it after reading about the issues a memeber had with a fuel pump. This is a member who's opinion I respect and it did give me pause before pulling the trigger. There was also the issue with the 2 year turbo install but that was less of a factor in my decision.

In fairness, the world be rid of me(asshole) and you(indescribably stupid, no money smarts, BHR nuthugger, etc.) Sound like a pretty good deal for the world. I'm almost a gimmie at that point.

The things I've heard have made me wary of buying from them.

I won't say they'll never have my money, but for the moment theres nothing they offer that I would consider worth the risk of getting caught in customer support hell.

I'd buy their water pump if I needed it, but mines going strong.
