View Full Version : First RX8 in the Netherlands
girlyRX8 06-03-2004, 12:29 PM I ordered it on the web on Saturday-evening, and found it on my doorstep on Tuesday-morning, so great service! I paid 25 € for the tech wax (don't know what I paid for the spray wax) and paid 10 € for shipment. You can get Zaino on the web too, but it is twice the price and 25 € for shipment. To order, surf to the Meguiars site and then you can select the continent. It is great stuff, uncomparable to any products available over here.
Patrick 06-03-2004, 01:10 PM GirlyRX8,
Thanks for your info, if I have some names of the MX5-club I also will let you know.
Nice tip on Meguiars NXT products. That will be work for the "grote vakantie"

Caecil 06-03-2004, 01:23 PM Hi all,
I know we all are reasonably, responsebly drivers, not too young and with some driving experience.
Look what can happen with a very powerfull car as our 8, in the hands of a young unexperienced driver.
http://www.rx8club.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=30222&perpage=15&pagenumber=1
I've been to an extended training course last Thuesday, just to learn to deal with these kind of situations because I've read all about the 8 wagging it's tail. Didn't practice it in my 8, it's still so new so I hired a car, but now I wish I had. Time to pull some strings with Mazda NL for some kind of "Prodrive day".
See you, drive save,
Caecil
girlyRX8 06-03-2004, 02:40 PM Hi Caecil,
I saw the pics of the car. That must have been some smack! The 8 is not an easy car to drive. I am very cautious with it, because I already felt that it can do some strange things. Last Sunday we went out with the 8 and my husband did some 'test-driving' with it. When we came to our destination, I felt like I had been to an amusementpark and took the worst ride of all, my stomach was turning. He is a good driver, but like most men, a lesser driver than he regards himself. I have my license for 13 years now and never even had a scratch on my car, so I'm going to keep my strategie. First: get used to a car, learn how it reacts in sertain situations, then you can play around. I would like to do that training course too, but with 8 specialists, because it is not an ordinairy car. I am still halfway my break-in period, so I can't pull it over 4000 rnds/min, but even under these conditions, I have problems to keep myself from speeding.

Yes, I've had the same strategie. After nearly 6000km I'm still learning, but keeping it within speed limits was hard from the start. And I'm affraid it always will be.:D
6000 km in only one month .....
You should have bought a Wankel Diesel.....
We did almost 7000 km in almost 6 months.
Are there more of you with such a record?
See you tomorrow!
ps
Mazda NL won't be present tomorrow. I received a short reply from one of there marketing people that nobody was available this saterday.
Eric
Patrick 06-04-2004, 09:06 AM Hi,
Nearly 12000 km from the 10th of december until now.
Just not such a record but good driving.
regards and till tomorrow
Patrick
Caecil 06-04-2004, 09:13 AM I think Hilbert drove more if I remember correctly, but we´ll find out tomorrow!
See you in Eindhoven.

Hi fellow RX8 Drivers. I will be visiting The Netherlands (Roden) on business the week of June 21st and I will like to have directions to a dealer or store that sell parts and accessories for our beloved cars. My goal is to compare availability and cost. Any help will be appreciated.
Thanks,
EAQR

Hi EAQR,
Welcome to Holland,
But availability is low and costs are high!!!!
Even with the costs of shipping it´s much cheaper to order some accessories in the states. If you want, we could send you a list with available goodies and prices to compare.
I think the nearest Mazda dealer to Roden is in Groningen. Just let us know if you need the adress.

Yes please send me both the list with available goodies and prices, and the address of the dealer at Groningen. My plan is to stay in Groningen, any hotel recommendations?
My email is eaqr@bellsouth.net

I'll send you the adresses from the dealer in Groningen and some other nearby dealers a.s.a.p. But I don't know any hotels over there, sorry.
Caecil 06-06-2004, 05:01 AM Hi all,
Yesterday Patrick, Hilbert, Eric and I met with our partners in Eindhoven. The dealer was so kind to supply coffee and pastry.
Guess what we talked about?:)
Caecil 06-06-2004, 05:05 AM b.t.w. the left B.Black is from the dealer.
Renesis, we missed you! See you next time?
Dear All,
It sure was a very pleasent and interesting meeting. The beginning, we hope, of something bigger.
We met a very kind and willing dealer who's hospitality was fantastic. We could stay as long as we wanted.
Allthough the dealer was engaged (he had a tennis tournement) he quickly visited us in between.
Many thanks to Garage Muzenberg and to all the participants yesterday.
See you all next time!

Caecil 06-06-2004, 11:17 AM Dear all,
To the Dutch-speaking subscribers of this thread, Eric, Barf and I would like to announce that we have created a forum in the Dutch language.
It certainly is not our intention to draw everyone away from this thread or this forum, because this is the place where we all have learned so much about our 8's and everyone is supportive and compassionat in good and bad times.
But we noticed that a lot of Dutchspeaking people can read English, but can't or won't write it. Since it is so much easyer to communicate in once own language, we thought we should give this forum in Dutch a try.
Barf, the "computernerd" who made this all possible, and I have registered the name of this forum for one year. If it is succesfull, we will continue this of course. It is our goal to find and communicate to many new Belgium and Dutch RX-8 owners or RX-8 interested people.
Well, this is the kick-off. The three of us posted some pictures, links and stories on the new forum, but it needs a lot more!
On behalf of Eric and Barf (Leo), I would like to invite you to www.rx8nl.com
We hope to see you soon!

RenesisMsa 06-11-2004, 02:08 AM Hi All,
Apparently the meeting in Eindhoven was great too bad for me that I was not able to come furthermore I studied some months in Eindhoven years ago, it was a nice opportunity to see how the city changed.
This new site is looking nice, I have definitly to improve my dutch knowledge.
Finally do you have the car technical stuff ?
Cheers

I'll take her in about 2 weeks, but in between I'll go see her everyday :p
Before she leaves the shop, I'll give her it's first Crystal Guard gloss  , and place some invisible (and maybe not so) mods :D
Caecil 06-15-2004, 04:44 PM It looks great Tertou, but why wait two weeks? Is it because of the mods?
tertou 06-15-2004, 04:56 PM Originally posted by Caecil

Maybe I won't wait that long, but papers need to be filled, taxes (and car ;) ) need to be paid, the mods put on...
But I have also some work in the house, and I prefer having it be done before going flying on the roads :D
Gosh, I like it's colour :p
Caecil 06-15-2004, 05:05 PM Oké, you're right about first doing the things you really have to do. Once you receive your 8 there won't be anything else on your mind!
And as I said before, I do love the green too. Please post a picture when it's outside.
Patrick 06-16-2004, 12:16 AM Great Tertou and ... the best is yet to come.
Driving it will be a great experience anbd it stays that way.
I have now more than 13000 km and it is always fun to drive.
I'm alsa planning some additional mods. I will build in a Lenco portable DVD-MP3-... player at the back; I will finish my self-made rear spoiler and I"m gatering information on the Maggelan Sport Track system wich enables me to download "flitspaallocaties".
In the beginning don't fly to high.
regards,
Patrick
RenesisMsa 06-16-2004, 06:08 AM Very nice color Tertou !
On my side everything is fine ! Just a little vibration noise in the Console on not so bad roads (so quite borring). I know from where it is coming but I need to find the way to get rid of it.
One question for you all, when the motor is running and warm, and that your are stopped, don't you feel sometimes vibration coming from it ? (appearing like the 'regime de ralenti' is too low)

Yes, that happens sometimes. It's not as smooth as it used to be. I've already made an appointment with the dealer to have it checked.

RenesisMsa 06-23-2004, 05:48 AM Caecil,
Good to see I am not alone to have this (but for the moment it is for me not frequent at all).
As soon as you have news about this problem, please have a post over here.
Thx

Same here : some trim noise (on V-pillar mainly) and less than smooth idle.
Plus : moisture in 1 headlight (will be replaced), strange noise coming from under the car (only heard with windows down - damper heatshield maybe?).
I'm happy to see this thread is still alive despite RX8NL.com ;)

RenesisMsa 06-23-2004, 06:04 AM Hi,
Does somebody have some news about a possible RX-8 event organized by mazda ?
Was it a rumour ?
Cheers
Caecil 06-23-2004, 11:30 AM Apparently some others have the same problem about the smoothness during idle.
http://www.rx8club.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=31797
My 8 is going to the doctor next week (Wednesday) for this, but mainly to get the steering wheel straigt.
To Renesis, the rumor in this thread about the Mazda event had it's origin in Belgium. Regrettably there is no event planned in The Netherlands, as I was told by my dealer two weeks ago.
To IKN, of course this thread is still alive, it just had a little rest for a few days :)
Regards,
Caecil
Patrick 06-23-2004, 12:45 PM Hi Caecil,
I have the same problem with the steering wheel, I'll get it fixed when I turn my car for the 20.000 km.
Somethimes I have that smoothness problem, but not that often. When I accelerate fast, there seem to be no problem, at least for the moment. Pergaps I could ask my dealer if he is aware of that. I presume I'll again will be the first to notify him about this.
regards and have a nice weekend.
Patrick and Stephanie
We leave sa 03.07.04 for Morocco; so if I'm out off the air for some while, here you know why; I will tell it to the friends of the nl-forum to so they don't have to wonder why.
RenesisMsa 06-24-2004, 02:15 AM Hi Patrick and Caecil,
How did you get this problem with your steering wheel ?
Was it there from the beginning ?
Patrick, I wish you good holidays ! I will soon be on holiday too.
Rgds
Patrick 06-24-2004, 02:41 AM RMsa, yes I think it should have been there from the beginning, but I noticed it only after 2 months; I had so much to learn about driving the car, audio/on-board comuter, GPS,...
Have a nice (and sunny) hoiday too.
regards,
Patrick

In mine it was there from the beginning, I noticed it within 2 hours and went back to the dealer the next day to report this. When driving straight, the steering wheel is about 6 mm lower on the right side and when turning to the right, the signal doesn´t turn of itself.
But because this does not effect the steering in itself (I think), I didn´t let them replace it immediately, I didn´t want to mis my new car for a whole day in the first month.
tertou 07-05-2004, 02:54 PM FYI,
As I won't take delivery of my 8 soon (insurance harder to get than expected  ), you can see it at MAZDA Rucquoy, in Nivelles...
You can't get inside, nor drive it, obviously ;)
But tell your friends, if they want to see another colour than yours :p

Try Ethias ( ex SMAP), but make sure to call their office in Liège, they are much more helpful.
tertou 07-07-2004, 11:57 AM Heh, thanks for the advise, I'll try to remember it next time I need it ;)
I just got my green paper from MAZDA Insurance today :D
But the car will still be there to be seen for one more week... I need to empty the garage from the last house wrecks, to leave a clean place for the 8 :p
Caecil 09-12-2004, 05:42 PM Just to let you all know the Dutch are still alive.
There was a RX-8 meeting yesterday.
RenesisMsa 09-13-2004, 02:04 AM Hi Caecil,
Apparently the meeting was a success. How much were you ?
As I can see on the picture there are not so much Red RX-8 ?

RenesisMsa
Caecil 09-13-2004, 04:20 AM This RX-8 event was organised by Autobedrijf Doornekamp in Leusden, a Mazda dealer who sold some RX-8's. There are 10 cars on the photo: 6 of them are from members of the Dutch language forum, 2 were from clients of Doornekamp, 1 from the rotarymotorexpert from Autopalace De Binckhorst (the Dutch Mazda importer) and 1 demo car.
And indeed, only 2 reds. I hope some Belgiums join us next time ;)

I hope someone else can give you a better answer, but to my knowledge, there are only a few rx-8's in all of BE and NL. There are many more in germany, obviously a fair percentage are military in the Kaiserslaughtern region. I beleive France has a small following as well, but I dont think it's near us.
SANTI 11-23-2010, 02:39 AM Suks so bad, anyway hope you get better man.
