krijpipudht 09-14-2008, 05:30 AM Does anyone have an idea how to create Titanium Rainbow Color?

I want to paint (or create....) my GReedy SP2 tips to these color because my rear bumper is now all in Sunlight Silver.
SP2 used to look stand out on OEM bumper / black diffuser.
Now it looks too blend in, not to stand out as it used to be.
Still, the sound is so sweet. :)
Thanks
Note: I am not considering to change to new cat-back. My 8 eats alot. Need $ to feed her.
chrism 09-14-2008, 07:39 AM sure cut the tips off and weld on titanium tips
nuke0907 09-14-2008, 08:38 AM or buy a Greddy Evo TT exhaust.
Cut off the tips and weld in a new set.... Or i seen that some stores sell high temp caliper paint that gives you this kinda chameleon effect, im sure it will work on the exhaust tips as well. Its a 3 stage process, its a package that comes in 3 spray paint cans.
stevezx2002 09-14-2008, 08:07 PM use a torch to heat up the end of the tips, it should create the same effect.
mysql 09-14-2008, 08:08 PM Ti tips won't stay that same color for long... as the exhaust heats up over time, it will get blotchy and the colors will be all over the place.

SP2 is made from aluminum. Will it give the same effect?

had my agency power exhaust for almost a year and the titanium tips look about the same as when I bought it
XDEEDUBBX 09-16-2008, 06:43 AM you cant weld titanium tips to metal..it will melt like a hot knife through butter, they must be bolted on.

(BTW, no insult meant to you deedubb, thought about it and realized that could sound smartassed after typing it that way)
05rex8 09-16-2008, 11:28 PM ^wow, that's awesome

sure, jump on him for saying that. even the site itself admits that wielding Ti is very difficult. but at least you acknowledge it sounded smartassed.

It was intended as a joke. Perhaps you should take that into account before jumping on your high horse?
Im_DANomite 09-17-2008, 12:02 AM JE Imports is a local shop here in baltimore. they have some awesome work coming out of that shop. they actually started Vaughn Gittens Jr. (falken mustang drifter) in his old 240SX.
and yes, you can weld Titanium to steel.
XDEEDUBBX 09-17-2008, 03:27 AM ok i take back what I said, thats what I get for posting at 3:43am...i wouldnt reccomend it...its very hard to do..i've seen people melt away perfectly good titanium tips when trying to weld to metal. thats why the majority of aftermarket exhausts with titanium tips are bolted on.
05rex8 09-17-2008, 07:44 PM ^exactly
then they rattle from the rivets....*cough* agency power *cough*
:banghead:
zoom? 09-17-2008, 07:58 PM you can weld the two if you know what your doing
NgoRX8 09-17-2008, 10:53 PM rattling tips... ouch........
05rex8 09-17-2008, 11:11 PM yeah, I'm thinking of getting rid of it.....it just looks so damn sexy........
It only rattles when it gets totally warmed up....it's strange.
NgoRX8 09-17-2008, 11:13 PM have a shop pop in another rivet, might stabilize it some
Razz1 09-18-2008, 12:58 AM Just take a torch to it. When yu get the metal hot enough it will discolor like that.
Don't forget to remove the exhaust from the car first.
