I've been a proud Jeep owner for just about forever. I'm on my 4th Jeep, but it's just not practical anymore. It's lifted and gets <10 mpg. So take that everyone that's bitching about gas mileage! You're whines fall on deaf ears.
Anyways. I've been fighting the urge to get something else more practical and fun to commute in. That is, until I saw an RX-8 commercial. To make a long story short, the car intrigued me, and I came across this site and then decided to get one. I pick mine up Monday, a Titanium Gray, 6 SP, GT, blah, blah, loaded. I couldn't wait so I still have my Jeep. Gonna have to sell it now. Couldn't wait to sell it first. Damnit, now there is no backing out, I have to sell my beloved Jeep. But I can't help but be excited. It's like your wife died, your sad, but your happy cuz now you can spend all your time with your girlfriend she never knew about. LOL!!!

How do I love Jeeps?
.........Let me count the ways...

or at least the parts-
in a four year ownership, here are the replaced parts,
(and needless to say, none of it was for 'upgrade'!)

Auto gearbox
Torque convertor
front u-joint
front drive shaft
ignition sensors (2)
push rods (16)
bridged pivots (16)
fuel pumps (2)
wiper motors (2)
tailgate glass motor
power steering pump brackets (2)
lifters (16)
valve rockers (16)
electric choke units (2)
airconditioner fill (3)
heater motors (2)
heater core

apart from that, a fairly un-eventful ownership.

Doc, is that an AMC JEEP? How many miles and how old is it? (not that I care one way or the other about jeeps. I haven't driven one in over a decade)

That's why you buy a Toyota 4x4! Never have to replace ANY of that crap. 220K miles on my 85 4runner and still running like new!

Welcome to the dark side of Japanese quality. More people are converting every day, making Detroit even weaker.

Happy Rotoring,

Kurt G.
