I brought my 8 home last Monday night and ever since I've been looking for reasons to drive her. Wednesday afternoon I was sitting watching TV when I remembered something. I jumped off the couch, startling my wife, and ran for the bedroom, then the garage. Half an hour later I return with a smile from ear to ear and my wife just rolled her eyes.

Now here is why.

About six months ago I was surfing the Oakley website looking for a new pair of shades to run while Cycling(my other passion). I came across a sweet design called the "Plate". Here is a link.

Oakley Plates (http://x.oakley.com/catalog/display/gateway/eyewear/omatter/plate/platinum_24k_iridium)

Well, even though they weren't practical for racing because they sucked for peripheral, they were just too cool to pass up, so I ordered them.

Fast forward to Wednesday afternoon. Sitting on the couch watching TV I'm really thinking about driving the 8. Then it pops into my head. I got the Titanium Grey 8 and my Plates just happen to be Dark silver which is just about the perfect match.

If you took a gander at the link you'd see that these things just fit the 8 like they were made as an accessory. Thus my smile upon returning home after a half an hour cruise with the shades on in my new 8. Obviously the wife wasn't as impressed as I was.

Nice shades. If you're under 30, it works. If you're over 30, between the car and the glasses you're stretching it. (I'm 45, so no offense intended.)

Ok, what goes best for Velocity Red with Red/Black interior for the over 40 crowd?

Heh, I'm 30 even as of last month. So it looks like I'm riding the fence. And yes, the shades are a bit out there....but I prefer being unique. That's one reason I didn't go for the Dime a Dozen Mitsubishi Eclipse. Nice looking car...but they're everywhere.

As for a pair to match your ride and ....vintage....I'd try a pair of Revo's. I have a pair I wear for my more sophisticated outings. They're smashing.

Take a gander at Revo.com and scroll over to the Advanced Exec 3010 Flex. Now there is a pair that fits a man with class.

Oh...one last thing Mr. 40 something. For one who seems to lean towards conservative....why the Red 8? Heh. Just giving you a hard time man.

My Emporio Armanis (170S) are a perfect match for the rx8. They slightly resemble the headlight and taillight shape. I'll post a pic after my lazy butt gets dressed. :D Wakeech, great photo, bro! Are you raising one eyebrow (ala James Bond), or are they sitting crooked? :p Sorry, man, I just zeroed in on that for some reason!...

I have a winning blue 8 and the sunglasses I have that go best are my Oakley Juliets with blue polarized lenses. I have polished metal Oakley Pennys with black iridium lenses that go with my black with silver striped 7. Oakley has plenty of great shade frames and colors that would work well with the 8, fire would kick ass with red or yellow cars. I am almost as big an Oakley fan as I am a rotary fan (not really--but I do dig Oakleys)

Oakleys just remind me of highschool, tackiness, mullets, and bad boy club stickers. They make some nice shades for certain purposes and I had a pair for baseball, but just too damn busy for anything else for me.
