Got my rx8 about 4 weeks ago - one of the first in the UK- after placing an order and waiting for more than 7 months! Wonderful car....Unfortunately I've noticed a small color inconsistency (stain like appearance) on one of the doors. I've asked a professional about it and he told me it's a factory defect and will probably need the whole door replaced/repainted. Should I contact mazda uk about this or the dealer, any advice on this? It's only a small thing really ... but hopefully I can sort it out. thanks.

Try the Euro forum. or http://www.rx8ownersclub.co.uk/forum even!

You should go to your dealer, as they'll do any warrenty work for Mazda UK anyhow, your dealer (or any mazda dealer) is your point of contact.

Like the other responder said, take it to your local dealer -- they'll be the ones to take care of it.

It may seem like a "small thing" now, but the longer you wait, the bigger it will look to you! ;)

Thanks for your advice. I've just been to the dealer - they had a look and confirmed it's a factory problem. And asked me to go a bodyshop for a quote....the guys there were quite enthusiastic about the car (:- )still a rare car in the uk) and gave me some advice... one which concerns me it's I shouldn't have the door resprayed/repainted because I will loose the factory finish. They will also have to match the color, etc. - very tricky situation, I need to sort this thing but my new car will have to be repainted after such a short time...... I will go again and see what the dealer have to say about it....

I believe a truly outstanding body shop can repaint the door perfectly. If it were my car, I'd visit a few high-end dealers (Bentley, Rolls, Ferrari) and ask where they send cars that require body work. Then take your RX-8 to one of those shops.
