Geez I won't even have the car for a couple months and I've spend seemingly a hundred hours on this forum - likely making a nuisance of myself :)

I've learned some great information and I think it's been worth it! But I gotta cut back or I'm gonna suffer RX8 burnout before I even turn the key :D

Gonna try to limit myself to once a week for awhile.

Happy Thanksgiving to all you fellow Yanks. And peace to everyone else.

So, are you addicted to this forum? - poll!

Sadly, Nubo, it appears you may have hit upon a common theme for many here. I post when I've got legit input or a question, but I'm on here reading all the time. I'm still waiting for the dealer to get mine, but I'm still trying to learn all I can about it. The wife thinks I'm nuts. :D

Geez I thought it was just me fellas - I can't stop reading this forum! Me thinks it has something to do with the fact that i've ordered my car, it has be delivered, but i'm not in the same country as it is yet (UK now, Australia in three weeks) so I have to wait until the 17th of December.

To make it worse, one of my friends here has just bought one and he seems to be wearing a permanent grin from ear to ear!

All i've got to go on at the moment is this forum and my slideshow memory of the 5 minute test drive I had two weeks ago... Ahhh memories.

Yeah, my wife reckons I'm an addict. If I still had my car, I'd be out driving it, but instead I have to live vicariously through the forum.

Addicted? Only if two hours a day scanning the forum = addiction. I either need a 12-Step program or a call from the dealer announcing delivery...

Yeah, I know that feeling. Only thing that'll change once mine comes in I think will be the frequency and content of posts. It'll turn into - "Geez, will you give it a rest already?!?" from everyone else. :D

Hey everybody, Toadman got a gold star sticker on his paper at school today! :D

Been out here for about 3 years now but getting ready to rotate back to the east coast (DC). I lived in San Diego previously for about 4 years, so when I got the chance to head back out to SoCal again I jumped on it. Unfortunately the last two years I haven't really been here to enjoy it . :(

I'm with you on this one. Like eccles said, we don't have the so we need to live through the forum (but it is much worse for eccles because had a taste of the car and had to give it up).

I have had to cut back recently due to school etc., but during summer this forum is a major hinderence to my social life.:p

Where you ever based out of Miramar?

When I flew S-3s I was at North Island NAS in Coronado right across the bay in San Diego. The E-2s I fly now were previously based at Miramar along with the west coast F-14s, but when Miramar became a Marine base in 95/96, the F-14s moved to the east coast and we moved up to Point Mugu. Where we are now is roughly 60 miles NW of Los Angeles. From my driveway I can be in Hollywood in about 50 mins. :)

It's funny, but the restaurant Neptune's Net that gets used again and again in movies like The F & the F (sorry can't bring myself to say the full name) is all of 10 mins south of Point Mugu on the Pacific Coast Highway. The food's not bad. :)

My brother used to be based at Miramar. He worked on the E-2s for a while. Now he flies SH-60s, I think out of North Island.

Funny enough, I have a friend who flies out here with me, and he's from Madison. It's a small, circular world... :)

I started my first (real) job out of college with a grand total of thirty-something dollars to pull out of the bank when I moved. Whoo-hoo! Had a funtastic time in college though. Memories that'll last me forever...

Not bad at all. I've been working full time since I was 17. I'm 26 now and still making pennies, but plan to grad in the spring. What'd you go to school for?

Racer X-8

Penn State - BS Mechanical engineering. It worked. I've been one ever since ('77). Trying to be anyway... :)

Worked lots of different disciplines in it. I had 8 different jobs, lasting anywhere from 6 months to 16 years (John Deere). Each one wound up being totally different from the rest. Makes things interesting that way. I'm now doing design work for Westinghouse Nuclear Fuels division. They make the nuclear fuel assemblies that go inside the reactors of nuclear power plants. I've designed mobile hydraulic cranes for Grove Cranes (R&D), marine engines, vibratory screens, feeders & foundry shakeouts for foundries (including Chevy & Ford), stone crushing plants (yeah, the whole plant, including railroad sidings), railroad maintenance equipment for Tamper Canron, signage (for, like, airports, Eckerds, highways, whatever), and saw chain (for chain saws).

Wish I could have finished the explosion-formed stainless steel artificial heart casing for Hershey Medical Center - my senior class project. Ran out of time.

Graduating in spring? Most excellent! What's your forte?
