Okay so I've read about tall people that apparently have issues with the rx-8. I feel it is probably one of the most tall-friendly sports cars I've been in. Is this probably true?

At 6'5" I haven't had any problems with the rx-8 feeling "too small" or not enough head room. I also noticed that jeremy clarkson is a tall mother fucker and he seemed to not have a problem.

Who else thinks the rx-8 is a spacious ass car for what it is? Any other ridiculously tall rx-8 drivers?

It's torso length, not overall height that's the issue. I am 5'8",but with short legs. When wearing a helmet or going too long without a haircut the low roof ( sunroof car ) is an issue.

I'm 6'5" and I have no issues as well in this car. I have the GT v. and my head is ~ 3 inches away from the sunroof. my seat is all the way back and down but thats the way I like driving. my legs are long which sometimes sucks with shifting... Best sports car I've been able to fit in by far

EDIT: as soon as I got into an S2K, I said fuc* it because there was just no way I could fit (leg wise)

I'm 6'6" (on the lean side) and the RX is one of very very (!) few cars that combine a good driving position with the space I need. Many other cars I'm struggling to get behind the wheel or banging my knee on the wheel during shifts etc.

Ok so the seat is right back rendering the rear seat behind rather impractical - but I can shimmy forward a ways if I want to get 4 in the car.

I'm 6' 7" (On the fat side) and I fit. I don't fit in a sunroof RX-8 too comfortably without going gangsta lean on the seat and it looks stupid. I fit in the 8 MUCH better than any Mustang out there, go figure.

I should add that I have the manual seat and no sun roof. I did try a sun-roof model when I was buying and found it marginal to no good on the head room front. The manual seat sits quite a bit lower as well.

6'6" here. and I don't have a problem at all. Even with a helmet on track days.
Of course I don't have a sunroof. That would be a problem with the helmet.

6'5" here, its Ok for room imo. It sorta reminds me of my 95 intergra's room but a little bit more. For modern sports cars its above average for leg room but I have had sports cars with better room then it though, could have done without the back seats and made a little bit more room IMO but then it changes the whole design with the back doors and everything.

I'm 6'-7" and I fit fine in the RX8 with a helmet too, I actually have more room in it than my Skyline.

Im 6'1"- 6'3" I fit perfect with the back of the seat all the way up, and the seat all the way back. (long legs) My head is usually a few inches away from the roof (no sunroof) I feel small inside my 8 sometimes. The only thing I would complain about is the rearview mirror, it gets in my line of sight too often. When driving on the road I feel like its a very big car, but compared to my mom's '02 Nissan Altima its looks so tiny.

I am 5'11" and have the 2006 Copper Red Shinka. I have long legs and torso, but have plenty of room in this car...although the only thing to sit behind me are my corgis and very small children. Otherwise, this car has a lot more room than other cars in its class. I drove the Saturn Sky and Pontiac Solstice before I bought my RX8. I was uncomfortable in both. I have a 6'6" friend who is comfortable in both the passenger seat and the rear passenger seat.

To me...when it comes to the RX8, passenger size hasn't been an issue.

I find that interesting because my girls bestfriends dad has an 05 shelby 500 edition stang with the s/c and he said he didn't buy the rx-8 because it was too small.

Doesn't make since to me when I'm 6'5", and pretty equally long torso / legs. I have no sunroof (though I plan on having one installed aftermarket someday), and I've had no problems either.

Like some of ya'll mentioned already, even when it comes to shoving 4 people in the car, it can be done. I can put my seat suprisingly far foward if I need to. Albeit I'm quite lean.

I guess what I'm saying is, I'm pretty sure a big, tall, fatass mofo should have no problem driving the 8...

My boyfriend is 6' 5". When he's lucky enough to drive my car he bitches about how small it is and spends about ten minutes adjusting the seat to get it just right. When he finally gets it right he still has only about an inch or less of head room. He says that my car is so small he has to put it on as opposed to just getting in it. God knows his WRX is the most comfortable and spacious car ever, but anyway. It was hilarious to watch him try to cram himself into a s2k. He didn't even come close to fitting.

Makes sense though...besides the fact that I already loved the car before I test drove it, the fact that it was roomy enough to support my size made it that much better.

Like others have mentioned, a lot of more compact sports cars are waaay more cramped. I couldnt fit in a tiburon or a s2k.

At 6'-3", I have no problems at all with plenty of head room to spare. Most of my length is in the legs though. For this reason I compromise either my legs (bent) or arms (reach for the top of the wheel). The driving position would be absolutely perfect if the steering wheel telescoped towards me an inch or two but I manage.

Ditto for me...

...except my helmet has very little left tilt clearance. So when I turn left, I can't tilt my head as much as I want to the left to compensate.

100% agree with that statement. I'm 6'4", and fit a-ok and I do have a sunroof. Would I call it the most spacious car in the world? Nope, but that doesn't bother me.

I'm 5'4 and I fit fine with the sunroof. My friend on the other hand is 6'2 and can't possibly fit in mine.

I'm 6'1" and have no issues... mostly. Recently got my hair cut as a mohawk... works fine with it down, but my hair is about 4 inches long at least and with it up I just dont fit... only had it up a couple times so havnt really tried moving the seat settings around a whole lot... really dont wanna do the gangsta lean

It's not just your height that matters. It's your weight.

+1

6'1" and i sit very upright and tight to the wheel, fit fine w/o helmet. with helmet i have to do what i would call the gangsta lean, but what most would see as about a normal position. i have the sunroof

At 6', I have major issues fitting in, but I dont care. I have a sunroof, but the problem is I am long through the torso. If I had a telescoping wheel, it would be ok, but as it is, I have about 2 mm clearance with the roof.

The sunroof version makes no sense to me unless you are short and do not have and never intend to have any friends and acquaintences of more than average height. Without the sunroof the headroom is adequate for most.
