CEL light mystery

When I first got on this forum, I read through all the posts about engine problems and different issues with the Rx-8. I thought to myself that they were only isolated incidents of certain individuals. However, I now have the car and it has been at the dealer twice because of a repetitive CEL light that just doesn't seem to go away. The CEL light first came on when the weather was cold and I started it, it started to shudder vigorously and then CEL light. I've taken it to the dealer, they told me it was foul spark plugs. I picked the car back up, couple days later, CEL light and engine shudder came back on, I brought it back, the dealership told me they called the Mazda hotline to request help. The hotline suggested replacing ignition coil? Anybody have this problem or know enough about rotaries to give alternative reasons because to me, it doesn't seem like an ignition problem. Sometimes, the car shudders a little for no real reason or it has strange bursts.

Give us some info on your car. What is the vin number drop the last three with xxx. Also give the mileage. If this is a recent purchase sounds like a real problem.

Jachtsai,
Took it in for the oil pan swap but i have the same identical problem. Mostly when engine is warm up and not cold. My baby is at the dealer and Mazda has no official answer. Code says " Crankshaft position sensor misaligned". I don't think so or it would not run good all the time. Vin is 40106xxx. In the mean time, I shure look good in that Kia Rio they loaned to me.
Anyone with the right answer !!
