wana shoot the shit off thread .. here's a place to do it folks..

++dez;

FROM TAKA:
Dez was soooo right. This Lounge is for any shit that is not quite RX-8 related. That was the initial intention of this thread. I will move some of the shit posts to this Lounge without notice. This is the thread that they belong.

Sounds good, as long as someone doesn't try and hijack this thread by bringing up a technical question about the RX-8. OMG, this might be the first thread ever that stays on topic by completely going off topic! LOL.

Drove the little bloke home from school today ... 100m from the school gates on a left turn he calls out to some "older boys". The boys started hooting and yelping, my son sat back around with a huge smile and said "YESSSS!".

( I don't believe I just typed that :p )

Dez
11-27-2003, 05:47 AM
Ah - now we're talking - ye ha! good stuff guys!

As for books - God I wish that f8cking Schofield would get killed!

I concur with you're comment about Mathew Reily's "Contest" - that was just pure brilliance on the first count of his authorship.

I was pretty impressed with Ice Station - as a one off it would have been a quick evening read and a laugh, but the trip to Area 4 was just abuse of a good relationship - the latest - well I'm reading it - but shit - there's supporting young Aussie authors and then there's just wasting $35 bucks!

I have to say you guys have started to leave this place in quite a state - move that frigging furnature back to where it should be, pick those magazines up, throw out the old newspapers, and oh man..

Who left these sticky glossy mags under the cushions! please, leave them in your bedrooms ok!

As for farting - that's just filthy..

Bloody great to see you're all into the Lounge idea, cheers Hymee, viva la technico threads!

I'm tempted to start a Drive Story thread - would anyone else get into short story type sharing of memorable drives etc?

Much thanks goes to Hymee for a fix to my Night Drive thread title - you're affirming your selection as Moderator man, way to go.

Say, I understand that there's no real technical reason for putting a grill on the left hand small vent, but doesn't it look odd being blank? I'm wondering if it's possible to put a grill on the left port just to keep the front end look balanced?

I did also talk to the manager at Euro Mazda's service center when I dropped by there yesterday to get them to drop 2 litres of "the good oil" into the '8 and I asked in as round about fashion as I could if putting some form of grill on the front end might void any warranty etc, and with a broad brush stroke picture of the Hymee Bar and Grill kit, he firstly said 1) Shit that sounds like a great idea, 2) Make sure Mazda doesn't steel the idea and rip off the money you can make from it, 3) no, it won't void anything on the car's maintenance etc. unless it makes a major change to the air flow, which it sounds like it won'd * grin *

No night drive tonight sorry - I really wanted to but hey, I guess every night might illustrate my issues a little too well.

I had the pleasure of meeting Kev today, a really nice guy - hey Kev! Thanks a zillion for the hot chocholate - my shout next time - and wow, I had no idea that they red paint was so neat in the sun light!

Really great to start to get f2f with some of you, Tanaka, Kev, and I'm hoping more soon clan - don't be strangers!

I've started to get a pretty good idea of how many of us are in Sydney now, even if certain folk don't update their profiles * tsk tsk *. There's more of us in Sydney than I thought ( in the forum that is ).

Hey, I'm thinking of making up some forum URL and info business cards, for $83 I can get around 250 of them printed at Kinko over night, will get y'all to preview and comment on the design before I get it printed pls - will give bundles of them out at each of the Dez's Night Drive gatherings so you'all can hand them out to folk you know, even if they don't have either an RX8 or even a Mazda.

Oh man - that Sony "Cyber Shot" TVC just played on free to air on #10 - I love that girl in her jim jams sleep waling near naked - hmmm...

Hey, has anyone got a really good hi res rotary logo I can use as the starting point for a T-Shirt design by the way?

I'm planning to knock up a one time run of limited numbers of RX8 / Rotary Logo T's for fun, leme know if you have a good hires image of the logo I can start with - leme know if you're interested in a T, I'll get costs and such locked down tomorrow, but it should be around the $20 each - going to get color - ideas welcome.

As for posting URL's for MOTOP papers, jesus, this ain't the study or sun room guys, light reading please * grin *

++dez;

ps: anyone here own a SMART car yet? I'm thinking of getting one and having it painted up with the http://WebSearch.COM.AU color and URL for fun!

Dez,

It could be possible to fit a grille to the LH side where the oil cooler should be but I think it will be much harder than the other grilles because of the shape of the black plastic insert. The stainless steel mesh doesn't respond well to bending and IIRC it will need to be bent a bit to fit properly.

I'm not too worried because I'm thinking of fitting fog lights to my cloth pack if I can find them at the right price. My grille is matt black so it's quite hard to spot anyway, so the car doesn't look unbalanced. I'm not sure how noticeable Hymee's is as I haven't seen the powdercoated version, only his prototype which was spray painted gloss.

Cheers

Ok - now we are having a technical discussion in the Lounge. D'oh.

The current Hymee oil cooler grille design mounts to the oil cooler. No chance of having a 2nd one the same design if there is only one cooler to mount on. You cant notice it anyway, as it blends with the cooler.

Cheers,
Hymee.

Wouldn't get too worried about the oil cooler grill looking unbalanced Dez, you can't even notice it. IMO they just look like a couple of black holes next to the fog lights unless you are deliberately analysing them up close.

Regarding the warrantee, my dealer (everyone from the DP, sales manager and service manager) knows all about the kits, and even wants to fit them himself.

I kind of think of it as a "Dealer Approved Accessory". I was coming up with an acronym. DAAc. Anyone want some more of Hymee's Daacs? Hehehe. Pretty pathetic attempt, but I feel lonely sitting so far in the northern corner of the lounge.

For some reason the magic cone reminds me of something that happened a couple of days ago when I was reading a book with my small son.

It was a nice, politically correct Fisher Price board book about different occupations – Farmer, Fireman etc.

When we got to the hospitals page the various doctors were both male and female, black, white, coffee coloured etc. to convey the right message to kids.

Down in one corner was a doctor, bearing a passing resemblance to Michael Jackson, with a syringe in his hand.

The speech bubble over “Dr Michael” said (and I swear this is true) – “You’ll just feel a little prick”.

My son wondered why I suddenly came down with an attack of the idiotic snorts…

And more... I walked past a Mazda 6 the other day. They have a similar setup up the front with two openings for the air to get in just like the '8. Only the '6 has a grill to protect each of them.

I know one of the regulars here has an '8 and a '6 in the garage, so if I'm sprouting sh*t, please correct me.

BTW Dez, have you heard about specific restrictions in the RX-8 exhaust that are caused by the cat? Obviously the cat does restrict flow through the exhaust, but it's not an RX-8 specific phenomenum as far as I can tell. Every car with a cat has the same restriction. Your only option if your serious is to install a high flow cat, or remove it completely. Option B is illegal as far as I know.

Hymee
11-29-2003, 06:10 AM
I am one of "the regulars with an '8 and a '6 in the garage". The '6 gets both lots of protection.

I don't have any empirical evidence to go by, but the "cat" (I am used to saying 'cats' - from my V8 days) may not be a restriction until we start seeing some forced induction '8s. If you put a larger bore exhaust on, you can "open the cat up" but cutting a short length off the ends (they are tapered) to get the larger diameter, and welding the new pipes on. That is a lot cheaper than getting new cats. (There I go again!).

Yes - we must run cats here. There was a guy on the LS1 forum from NZ - they are allowed to remove the cats, but he didn't put headers/extractors on because it would void the warantee/insurance. What a joke. When I get around to making the "Hymee is Exhausted" project it will be a(nother) "Dealer Approved ACcessory".

And did I miss Dez introducing cat restrictions to the discussion?

Cheers,
Hymee.

Kev

I was talking to a guy at redline rotary a while back. He suggested a "Y" off the maniflold, into two hi flow cats (staggered), another "Y" into a big pipe, then something like another "Y" into two mufflers ala racing beat's jobbie or twins all the way from the first "Y" + dual cats.

I'll have a look at the 6 in the morning - I think you're right though!

The doctor told a man that masturbating before sex often
helped men last longer during the act. The man decided,
"What the heck, I'll try it." He spent the rest of the day
thinking about where to do it. He couldn't do it in his
office. He thought about the restroom, but that was too
open. He considered an alley, but figured that was too
unsafe. Finally, he realized his solution. On the way home
from work, he pulled his 4X4 over on the side of the highway.
He got out and crawled underneath as if examining the
vehicle.

Satisfied with the privacy, he undid his pants and started
to! masturbate. He closed his eyes and thought of his lover.
As he grew closer to orgasm, he felt a quick tug at his pants
leg.

Not wanting to lose his mental fantasy or the orgasm, he kept
his eyes shut and replied "What?"

He heard, "This is the police. What in the hell are you
doing?"

The man replied, "I'm checking out the rear axle, it's
busted."

The cop says, "Well, you better check your brakes too,
because your 4x4 rolled down the hill 5 minutes ago."

(c) need more alcohol to determine the fundamental correctness of either (a) or (b)

dbb: here's how it should run for you..

ab=c or c=a+b^2 or if your wife is involved e=sc^reAm

the sum input required by C to offset B where A is true is the combined sub of AB * grin *

sco: I'm having a little trouble working out how exactly I'm going to atain 100% HHR in the RX8 with the drivers seat being the point of equilibrium where general bass broadband absorption levels might exceed normal broadband bass trapping you would see in a normal car cabin under low preassure at average crusing speeds sans air con [ excluses most aussie drivers ] - note - acoustic interference, as experienced in the trusty old RX8 when it's "singing" at 7k to 8k RPM, which causes severe peaks and dips in the low frequency range as well as low frequency reverb are going to cause you additional problems that require the some sort of mid to high end harmonic acoustic and interference absorption of any comercial solution! you solve that issue and you're driving a frigging volvo!

I gota say that I've sure bloody glad I'm not a "senior member" of a forum discussing "Helmholtz resonators and frequency heterogeneity" - no matter how bloody interesting it might be.

Guys,

I have just deleted the thread "Road Kills". Sorry to take the joy out of your forum experience, but in a public forum like this, it was poor judgement to post the info in my opinion.

We have a responsibility as drivers. OK - I'm no angel, but there is a line somewhere, and it got crossed.

The correct place to see if you can out drag a Commodore is at the Drag Strip, and they have regular public sessions in each state AFAIK. And (sorry to say) you won't beat many LS1 Commodores down the 1/4. Yes - you will beat them to 80km or so, and get a better 60' time, but that is about it. And BTW - the message with "A Series II SS" didn't mean much, it could have been a 5.0L VSII, or a 5.7L LS1 VTII or later.

Also, get out on the circuit if you really wan't to see how well you can drive. Driving on the track at 8 or 9 tenths requires much more skill/concentration that driving "fast" on the street. There is actually absolutely no comparison.

Cheers,
Hymee.

PS - Some of you who posted some good reasons that post was about to get deleted - would you mind retyping your valued opinions here please :)

timbo
12-15-2003, 04:16 PM
Correct decision, Hymee.

I will try to rewrite what I said when I have some time.

Kas, no offence mate, but a forum such as this cannot condone or encourage such driving. Do it on a track! And we really do want to hear about progress with the mods you are planning :)

Here is something else to ponder... I was talking to a friend of mine, and he was telling me his vehicle accelerates much harder when he goes WOT & full boost at around 700km/h compared to when he does the same thing at about 350km/h.

Having just received this (again), I thought I ought to post it, for the benefit of L&L's use ;) … and of course, many others:

1. I can only please one person per day. Today is not your day. Tomorrow is not looking good either.

2. I love deadlines. I especially like the whooshing sound they make as they go flying by.

3. Tell me what you need, and I'll tell you how to get along without it.

4. Accept that some days you are the pigeon and some days the statue.

5. Needing someone is like needing a parachute. If they aren't there the first time, chances are you won't be needing them again.

6. I don't have an attitude problem, you have a perception problem.

7. My reality check bounced.

8. On the keyboard of life, always keep one finger on the escape key.

9. I don't suffer from stress. I am a carrier.

10. Everybody is somebody else's weirdo.

11. Never argue with an idiot. They drag you down to their level, then beat you with experience.

12. A pat on the back is only a few centimeters from a kick in the butt.

13. Don't be irreplaceable -- if you can't be replaced, you can't be promoted.

14. The more crap you put up with, the more crap you are going to get.

15. You can go anywhere you want if you look serious and carry a clipboard.

16. Eat one live toad the first thing in the morning and nothing worse will happen to you the rest of the day.

17. If it wasn't for the last minute, nothing would get done.

18. When you don't know what to do, walk fast and look worried.

19. Following the rules will not get the job done.

20. When confronted by a difficult problem, you can solve it more easily by reducing it to the question, "How would the Lone Ranger handle this?"

BVD

Just thought i would show a different humanitarian side to my past posts that some have either knocked or not appreciated .

I am the only 1 left with the rx8 . ha ha ha

Question:
If we could shrink the earth's population to a village of precisely 100 people, with all the existing human ratios remaining the same, it would look something like the following:

Answer:

There would be: 57 Asians, 21 Europeans, 14 from the Western Hemisphere, both north and south and 8 Africans.
52 would be female and 48 would be male.
70 would be non-white and 30 would be white.
70 would be non-Christian and 30 would be Christian.
6 people would possess 59% of the entire world's wealth and all 6 would be from the United States.
80 would live in substandard housing.
70 would be unable to read.
50 would suffer from malnutrition.
1 would be near death;
1 would be near birth.
1 (yes, only 1) would have a college education.
1 would own a computer.

The following is also something to ponder...

If you woke up this morning with more health than illness, you are more fortunate than the million who will not survive this week.
If you have never experienced the danger of battle, the lonliness of imprisonment, the agony of torture, or the pangs of starvation, you are ahead of 500 million people in the world.
If you can attend a church meeting without fear of harassment, arrest, torture, or death...you are more fortunate than three billion people in the world.
If you have food in the refrigerator, clothes on your back, a roof overhead and a place to sleep...you are richer than 70% of this world.
If you have money in the bank, in your wallet, and spare change in a dish someplace...you are among the top 8% of the world's wealthy.

Probably a good time to say lets keep politics and religion out of this place. Unless it is the Rotary Religion :) Or the CAR political party (Citizens Against Rice). I better stop there. My LS1 mates like to eat rice for dinner.

I am sure there are numerous forums for discussing all that stuff. Even ones for giving waitresses driving lessons.

So - new topic...

Punter did well in the Cricket, hey? The Aussies really played themselves back into that match in impressive fashion.

Punter did do well in the cricket. I can't remember what he did in Adelaide, since I was sitting on the Hill watching the game. This involves sitting on the Hill not watching the game. But it does involve beach balls, beer, cheering, booing, beer cup snakes, more cheering and booing, and constantly walking that fine line between being entertained, and being thrown out.

Dez - you can give the carpet a vacuum, and clean out the racks.

Pepe & Timbo - you can check all the magazines and throw out any offensive material.

Hey!

Yes - RX8 still in one piece despite all my efforts to date - I'm still alive and well and almost done with xmas and nye break, back in the office on Jan 12th ( rats ).

Managed to stay off line and net free ( mostly ) for what has almost been four weeks of holiday break. Intending to get roughly another 18 hours of like "down time" till monday morning.

Planning to be back with a vengance next week, so load your browsers!

Regards to all - have missed the banter et al but there's no substitute for time out with my dear wift, hard case 2 year old daughter, good food, books, and some time catching low dosages of radiation surrounded by silicone in fine grane and saline infused fluids.

Looking forward to catching up with the old faces, and meeting some newbies in a day or so - I can feel an all nighter post fest coming on!

Oh, I've got a dual pack HBNG in the garrage Rob, we should do a DND and I'll get yours to ya.

Mark, yea - and yes it's been too long - turns out being at the top of the shit pile can cause you to end up with a pile of shit [ to deal with ]. What I had hoped would be a quick re-entry to the office has taken just over a week - endless partner meetings, business planning, sales and marketing strategy sessions, yadda yadda.. I'd give up the chair if I thought I could trust the board to not sail too far south..

Kev, yea - avatar change time appraoching..

And as for "was I orphaned at 17, causing me to turn into a single minded, revenge-driven space-dreg who's been hounded by an Imperial covert team sent to investigate the Company that killed my parents, causing me to become a young thug the street assets consider a "local asset."

No.

But to prove my validity as the one and only copy of the Dez in the box [ schrodingers cat ], I'm please to report that the sqrt(12) is still:

3.464101615137754587054892683011744733885610507620 761256111613958903
8660338176000741622923735144971513

if you're wondering why I remeber the sqrt of 12 to bizarre numbers [ average of 100 or so ] decimal points, thats a long story..

but if you take an average desk calculator and enter 3.464101615 and the press X ( times ) twice ( to multiply it by itself ) and hit = ( equals ) you should get 12, but 99.999% of cheap calculators will give you a classic software rounding error and reply 11.99999999 or thereabouse..

the inane trivial and generally useless information should beyound any doubt prove I'm "the" one [ and not that interloping wife of mine! by the way ].

I think there's a perfect aussie colloquialism that sum's it up.. "I dont' fuck about.." * grin *

as for you're sushi cat thing.. you're on your own there * laugh *

Kev:

one does what one can * smile * - I had to dig deep for that memory I can tell you now.

I've just finished a book called "Factoriing Humanity", a novel, well worth the read, a really neat mind bender near the last half - up there with Neuromancer et al - recomend you get it and read in one sitting.

As for Deathstalker - ah, Simon Green ( can never remeber his middle name ) - and fearless old Owen Deathstalker, a man who died to save the empire and humanity - what can you say to that!? nothing really.. retoric of course..

We have had an I AM IT vote, we should have an I AM BOOKWORM vote, i.e. (I read: a) spy novels, romance novels, sci-fi, et al )

Mark?

how do I start one 'o them votin thangs?

In my younger days i would go for girls purely on looks and their physical attributes now that i am older and some what wiser personality plays a much larger role , also if a girl has P.C.F .its definetely a bonus.

Death & taxes -- inevitable! Still, it does hit you when you get a bit older and people you have known, young and vital, die suddenly and not from a drug overdose or accident.

Oops, embarrassing silence in The Lounge

Quick change of subject -- scrabbles for joke -- how about this:

HEADACHE

Joe was moderately successful in the career, but as he got older
he was increasingly hampered by incredible headaches. When his
personal hygiene and love life started to suffer, he sought
medical help. After being referred from one specialist to another,
he finally came across a doctor who solved the problem. "The good
news is I can cure your headaches. . ." "The bad news is that
it will require castration. You have a very rare condition which
causes your testicles to press up against the base of your spine.
The pressure creates one hell of a headache. The only way to
relieve the pressure is to remove the testicles." Joe was shocked
and depressed. He wondered if he had anything to live for. He
couldn't concentrate long enough to answer, but decided he had no
choice but to go under the knife. When he left the hospital, his
mind was clear, but he felt like he was missing an important part
of himself. As he walked down the street, he realized that he felt
like a different person. He could make a new beginning and live a
new life. He walked past a men's clothing store and thought,
"That's what I need: a new suit." He entered the shop and told the
salesman,"I'd like a new suit." The salesman eyed him briefly and
said, "Let's see. . .size 44 long." Joe laughed, "That's right,
how did you know?" "It's my job." Joe tried on the suit. It fit
perfectly. As Joe admired himself in the mirror, the salesman
asked, "How about a new shirt?" Joe thought for a moment and then
said, "Sure . . ." The salesman eyed Joe and said, "Let's see. .
.34 sleeve and . . . 16 and a half neck." Joe was surprised,
"That's right, how did you know?" "It's my job." Joe tried on the
shirt, and it fit perfectly. As Joe adjusted the collar in
the mirror, the salesman asked, "How about new shoes?" Joe was
on a roll and said, "Sure . . ." The salesman eyed Joe's feet and
said, "Let's see...9 and a half wide." Joe was astonished,
"That's right, how did you know?" "It's my job." Joe tried on the
shoes and they fit perfectly. Joe walked comfortably around
the shop and the salesman asked, "How about a new hat?" Without
hesitating, Joe said, "Sure . . ." The salesman eyed Joe's head and
said, "Let's see. . .7 5/8." Joe was incredulous, "That's right,
how did you know?" "It's my job." The hat fit perfectly. Joe was
feeling great, when the salesman asked, "How about some new
underwear?" Joe thought for a second and said, "Sure . . " The
salesman stepped back, eyed Joe's waist and said, "Let's see...
size 36." Joe laughed, "No, I've worn size 34 since I was 18
years old." The salesman shook his head, "You can't wear a size
34. It would press your testicles up against the base of your
spine and give you one hell of a headache."

Sleepover?

Boys crashed in a tent in the back garden by 1:30am
Girls still watching movies and playing guitar (badly) at 3:30am

I cycled ~100k today and I'm certain I was asleep for half of it!

OK, I'll bite - what's in a dark and stormy?

I'm a Queenslander who can spell BEER, so no XXXX for me... but thanks for the offer. Stella, Corona, Boags sound good to me. Did my dash on Bundaberg Rum as a teenager... so no D&S's or Bundy and coke for me.

Storm just passed through, wiped out the heat, but now we have humidity. Note to self - Self, retire to Hobart. Mt Wellington got 2 degrees minimum the other day. Some nice roads for the '8 too. Will be well and truly a collectors item by then.. .and probably had a hydrogen conversion.

Hymee

Kev - Pour me a dark and stormy, mate - that is Bundy Rum and Ginger Beer.

Mmmm

Cheers,
Hymee.

I have three boys -- the youngest is 18. When they have sleepovers I get earplugs. And then try to look cool when young lady appears in morning. This is easy where I have previously met same, but sometimes …!

TWO GAY GUYS SIT AND TALK IDLY TO EACH OTHER ON A PARK BENCH.

================================================== ========

Hello:

HI:

What’s your name?

DANNY DUNLOP… AND YOURS?

Garry Goodyear.

HOW ARE YOU?

Tired.

OH WHEELY?

Yes, I just seem to be going round in circles all the time.

ME TOO. IT’S LIKE BURNING RUBBER ALL DAY LONG.

Yes I know what you mean, I was told to tread lightly today. I have weak walls

with a high temperature. All round sickly.

I’M FEELING SO DEFLATED.

THIS MORNING I HAD A BAD CASE OF FLATULENCE, YOU KNOW, TOO MUCH AIR…

HAVING TO RUN YOU KNOW WHERE AND STEER AT THAT DAMN RIM ALL MORNING.

Oh yes, I know, having to keep a low profile…makes you sick.

Got a girl friend??

YES I HAVE, SHE’S A BIT OF A CROSS PLY, BUT WITH A GREAT BODY STATISTIC.

15 HR 75 SP FROM YOKOHAMA

WOW!! Can she Hancook?

YOU BET SHE CAN, TROUBLE IS, SHE HAS THESE BURN-OUTS AND FLATSPOTS

HERSELF INTO A SPIN. GOES WHEELY NUTS OVER NOTHING WHILE I HAVE TO LISTEN TO HER RANT AND RADIAL ALL DAY LONG.

I have this friend of mine, Pete Pirelli, bit of a hubcap but he’s A1 if you know what

I mean. He used to go out with Michelin, do you know her, the sort with the big hoola hoops.

OH YES, SHE HAD A GRIP ON KELLY SPRINGFIELD, A REAL RETREAD…

BIT OF GOER … HIGH PROFILE TYPE.

Yes that’s her, a real spare.

She spoke to me the other day you know…

OH WHEELY!!!! WHAT’S THE SQUEAL THIS TIME?

Get outta my way - bloody Volvo driver!!!

OOW, HOW VULCANISING.

Likes to hug the road. Not a patch on the others though.

SHE STOPPED ME DEAD IN MY TRACKS, BROUGHT ME TO SCREECHING HALT.

How deflamatory can you get. I don’t think I will last the distance with her.

I prefer your type, you know, Bob Jane T-Mart type, that adds Firestone to a simple

Beaurepaire like me.

OOH WELL, MUST TAKE OFF NOW.

SEE YOU LATER, HAVE A GOODYEAR.

Ok Danny, just watch out for the Bridgestone ahead.

Don’t want to recap yourself do you.

How 'bout this one:

From Der Spiegel, 02/03/2004

PADERBORN, GERMANY Overzealous zookeeper Friedrich Riesfeldt fed his constipated elephant Stefan, 22 doses of animal laxative and more than a bushel of berries, figs and prunes before the plugged-up pachyderm finally let it fly, and suffocated the keeper under 200 pounds of poop! Investigators say ill-fated Friedrich, 46, was attempting to give the ailing elephant an olive oil enema when the relieved beast unloaded on him. "The sheer force of the elephant's unexpected defecation knocked Mr. Riesfeldt to the ground, where he struck his head on a rock and lay unconscious as the elephant continued to evacuate his bowels on top of him" said flabbergasted Paderborn police detective Erik Dern. 'with no one there to help him, he lay under all that dung for at least an hour before a watchman came along, and during that time he suffocated. It seems to be just one of those freak accidents where "s**t happens."

Just got a phone call from a girl I work with. I've been hassling her to get rid of the 1985 Lancer that she owns, and upgrade to a Mazda 3 or similar. Her and boyfriend have been umming and aaahing about getting the 3 - considering it a lot of money to pay cash for.

So, content of phone call is summarised as :

They bought a black leather pack RX8 instead.

Justified by the fact it will be financed, and not a $25k cash
outlay for the 3.

Bit of a leap - 1.5 ltr Lancer to a 1.3 ltr Wankel.

Guys check this out. My friend from Melbourne who owns C.O.M.E Racing (Chev Off-Road Marine Engines) has just sent me some photos of his race day at Calder. He's using a 383CI COME Engine, his best time at Calder:

156 mph (251.6 km/h) in 8.59 seconds

Hymee these are the times you used to get in your car isn't it. Hahahaha.

Back in the 1970's Izzy and his brother Sam were already using Nitrous Oxide, Turbos and Superchargers on your basic Torana, Monaro etc. They currently operate an engineering racing workshop in Melbourne. Iv'e attached these photos for your enjoyment.

Guess what he has also chosen the best colour for a car... yellow!

I like the changes wrt to reliablity, and no launch control. I would like it if they had not TC as well.

Those GP cars brake at an amazing 5G!!! The top fuelers accelerate at an even more amazing 8G!
