I know scooters are popping up everywhere in my area lately. I'm still scared i would get creamed by an SUV on my fast-paced, heavily trafficked commute to work. I need a safety cage around me at all times.

:lol: lol, nah i use to own a Yamaha 1994 FZR 400c while i lived in japan , got it when it first came out. used it as a DD. and before the FZR i had a 93 honda CBR 400 .but i just want a scooter just for DD :).

I'm getting too old to get back on a bike, though I did have a Honda 750 when I was young. I'm actually thinking of getting a Yaris as a DD (my 8 is a weekend car only, currently my DD is an old Explorer with a V6).

yah that part is what scares me to. US compared to Japan is totally different when it comes to drivers of automobile driving with ppl on bikes and scooters.

I have a 1 mile (1.04 mi) ride to work. The car JUST gets warm as i pull into the lot. Almost considered walking but its hot outside and i dont wanna be sweaty.

Yes, but just for around town - I wouldn't trade my 8. I've been watching what's on the road. I was thinking the price of scooters might jump up soon and I should get something now.

I saw one with 2 wheels in the front and one in the back, but I didn't catch the badge on it - anyone know what it is? Doesn't look very safe though.

I found it.... Piaggio MP3.... $7200. It sounds safer than I thought - independent front wheels. Anyone know?

One of the attorneys in our office has the Yamaha Vino, they are about 2k, and has sport tuned the suspension and exhaust, it does 55 up a hill no prob and gets about 65mpg
