Ok so here it is..The final step of the 4 years transformation of my rx8...
After a long waiting(12 months almost) i changed everything again from my white-black combo which except being too heavy was also very bad constructed...Now the car is around 1100-1200kg estimated and with the turbo kit 3 i m installing soon in my new engine,it will go like a devil..

So pretty much everything is carbon fiber super strong and super light weigh.Just for example the front door from around 20kg now weights 4!!!!

Nothing is bought,everything was custom made and no fiberglass layers on the carbon parts only carbon layers and the fitment is amazing!!!The front-rear fenders,bumpers and all the interior constructions was made from the beggining and are very ligh weight too cause in the white black were extremely heavy and the constuctions not good..

So we have a unique and very expensive colour for the exterior-interior which is orange-red with green-gold-yellow effects and the pics cant show it exactly..

1.5 spacers rear which with my 10.5 rim,-5mm offset makes the car extremely wide!
LSD mechanisms in the doors (I got rid the crappy gt doors cause i had problem due to being universal etc)

Almost all the constuctions in the interior are now painted in the car colour and i got rid the dirty suede from all the interior and made myself a very stylish leather interior.Also the car was dropped in the front and i installed the stock tailights not smoked this time.


If you like i can post all the mods too but this will take us 1-2pages for sure!! :p

Just to let you know the weather today was very cloudy and the pics are with a 5mpixel mobile so you cant see how the car is at person...I will get better pics as soon as we have good sunny weather and the interior pics coming late this week...the car is not exactly finished we have some details left and the car is dirty!! :spank:

I already told you that I appreciate the custom fab work. It's just unfortunate that the 200 lbs you saved was completely offset with all that stereo equipment in back. And actually, many of those panel gaps are simply appalling! I'd take it back to whoever assembled it if I were you.

Because if you spend 100,000$ modifying a 30,000$ car... thats a bit crazy. If you only spent 10k and did most of the work yourself, then thats amazing and congrats. Im pretty sure I liked your car in the 2007 phase more. I think if it was one color or the scheme was done differently it would look better. The hood is pretty cool. Do you have a picture of the exhaust not on the car? Is it just a straight pipe with a muffler?

I dont know.. i think both sides should post their opinions. but the problem is they criticism that has been given is not constructive, which is where I think they went in the wrong. on a side note, I agree with you though, the 8 is sick man. way to be different, gaurantee there isnt even anything close to a non-identical twin to this car on the road.

Who said i m not crazy LOL!!No problem my friend..Oh and the stereo equipment is not too heavy and as you said when the turbo will be installed and we reach over 400 crank hp for sure,i can race the car easily its very light now..

The only part thats same is the roof and trunk and the lip in the front and the oil coolers place..Nothing more...And both cars were made from the same person-shop so no problem..And as a guy said this car doesnt exist now..

Well by having a straight single exhaust 3" pipe you win a lot in performance..Not by the exhaust alone but it will definately maximize the performance gains now that i will turbo with the turbo kit type 3 and all the peripheral parts i ve got...Its definately better than a single



I said in the first post that from around 1600kg-3500lb i went to around 1100-1200kg/2400-2600lb!!!The white black was daaaaamn heavy

Carbon fiber does nt look good on black in my opinion cause it doesnt make and difference...Carbon fiber goes extremely well with light colours...I dont want to believe that some here believe the dark parts are painted???Everything is carbon fiber.. :p

That's some bad-ass custom work. Good job, man! My only critique would be that the two tone scheme is a little patchy looking. You shouldn't be affraid to paint some of the CF to make it look a little more cohesive.

it's nice, very sexy car, however, can u actually measure the car weight and let us know? the range u gave seemed very much like an estimate more than anything. 200 lb range. stock rx8 can reach 2800 lb while fully loaded GTs are 3100 lb ish. It's a great show car, pity it can't be put to good use with an actual goal of racing =p

Almost every single post you make is a FLAME against the rx8. I mean cant you just appreciate this guy for trying to make the most custom Rx8 on this forum and stay quiet?! You drive a Honda S2000....Thats no big whoop, it's literally a side step instead of an upgrade for the rx8. :banghead:

I'd agree here, it's not my taste and I can spot some flaws here and there, but I totally dig the "big picture" on this car and the ideas and thought that went into it. :)

If you plan on racing it, loose the subwoofers. Theres one guy in a s2k at a local autox and when i am in the timing trailer, EVERY time he pulls up to start he has the same song playing... its dumb... the same song every time. I forget what song, but its one of those ones about driving thats overplayed. and no its not "low rider".

If you plan on showing it, then ... great. I cant imagine what the color must look like in person. I know how Phantom blue looks in person and NONE of the color comes through in photographs. You see a blueness, but you miss all the green and purple... Based on your description of that one i would be very curious to see it in person on a sunny day.

GRx8, congrats on all the hard work, the car looks incredible. You truely brought your car to another level of customization, props man.

I have to ask, and totally respectfully... when you went to tear down the black/white scheme and do the total CF, did you ever concider dumping the RX8 and moving on to a more prestigious project, like a Porsche, BMW M, or an Audi RS car? I know we're talking apples and oranges, but you certainly could have afforded the upgrade it seems.

Well i will go to weight the car soon..The cost well lets forget it...And we wouldnt paint any carbon parts cause thats the difference the carbon..If i just wanted to have a light rx8 i will go from another path..

Well next step is in 22august when i scheduled the installation of all the mechanical parts and then Scott will tune it right after..

Tomorrow i hope we ll have sun and i ll go to the airport to take some pics with a 12 mpixel digi...

Sofl,My friend thanks for the comments..Well in august 2007 an old guy wrecked my front bumper and then we went from the one step of fixing the bumper to making a 1year carbon project... :)

And offcourse all this time i wanted to sell the car in any condition and go for other cars to relax of the tuning anxiety...I wanted to go for z06,r8, or with a lot of effort a used 360 spyder..But i m happy now and in 2 years i can go for a car like these...

When you take another batch of pictures, I'd also really like to see a better shot of your front fenders from just above and behind the wheel-well, like from standing next to the doors. I'd like to see those fender vents from a slightly difference perspective.

Definitely unique and probably fun as all hell to drive an 8 that light - even before you Turbo it. I agree with whoever labeled it as a little 'patchy' especially having the door color different than the f/r panels around it. Also a little curious why you have different wheels (or at least offsets) on the front & back. Contributes a little to the dischordant/patchy look.

Lookin' forward to seeing the 12x pics so we can really see the paint. Might reduce that patchy look when it's clearer.

I appreciate the work and investment but the end product is hideous. But to me any 8 with teh veilside kit is gross. Not that my opinion matters but I'll give it anyways.

Well the rims/tyres are different first becaure the rear fenders are huge,second cause its a rear wheel drive car and third cause it had a huge difference in the road in the corners...I love it..The car goes like it is on rails...Offcourse i ve changed everything in the suspension territory too but the tyres helped too

Mad props to whomever was dedicated enough to do all of the carbon work. Im not really feeling the color combo or the design...but as long as you're happy it is all that matters.

I wonder what you think the actual weight of your audio system is in the rear. I know that I just pulled an audio system out of another car and it was easily 200 lbs. I would also assume that you pulled more than 200 lbs out of the car by going to carbon fiber...but if the point was to loose the fat why would you include the extra weight?

A huge saving was from the doors,the new bumpers-we didnt use the white black bumpers-the new fenders front and rear and the carbon seats i m waiting...

Great car,,, I can really appreciate the time and patience you must have on this project. I think that some are undoubtedly going to be on the more critical side and I think it may stem possible from the extreme styling of the kit, I think that some of the crtics may have less to say if it was a more subtle kit like say something along the lines of the SpeedSource Mazdaspeed RX8. So of course people are going to have different taste on the exterior style... all said Ive been looking to do a Carbon roof panel such as yours and, alot like the new M3 and older CSL, and thought it might be too much effort with the moonroof opening but clearly you werent intimidated at all... So I assume you have access to the molds of your panels,,, I am interested in seeing closeup pics of the roof seams,
and if you ever want to make some of your money back I am extremely interested in purchasing a Carbon roof panel from you or your shop... If this is doable please PM me with a qoute or estimate....

Your speakers way more than 7lbs. You did save a ton of weight with the carbon enclosure...but you still added significant weight in the rear past the rear axle. Given your guess as to weight of the enclosure you are still looking at like 100 lbs or so in audio equipment.

I'm not a fan. It looks like someone put out a suggestion box for 'what to do next' and you used every suggestion.

Not a fan of the mulicolors....would look awesome black. Too flamboyant for my taste, but props for doing something while others simply talk.

Exactly. Its a hobby for him. The $ has nothing to do with it, obviously. Its the visualization he had and he's fortunate enough to have the $ to make it a reality. Kudos to him and even MORE kudos for sticking with the 8 when he could have just conformed and bought an M3/Porsche like the other yuppies.

Being from the "other" side where $ IS a factor, its pretty neat to see WILD shit like this being done by somebody else who can afford it. I think it would look better a solid color and with black rims but hey, thats just my opinion and the car looks sick either way.

Holy $*&*&%^ Batman!! Lotta work :) I think you should definitely contact Racing Beat and see if they can make you a rotor shaped exhaust like they made for the Furai... heck, if you have the money, see if they'll make you a motor like they did for the Furai :D

IMO...the front bumper looks like ass...it's just too busy. The rear is the same...but for the rear I'm not sure if that's because of the paint scheme or what.

I think it would look way better in a solid color and a different front bumper for sure...the rear bumper would probably look fine if it was one solid color.

Well the sub boxes weighted easily around 60-70kg thats around 140-160lbs..Now i hold them and i estimate to weigh around 3kg all together thats around 7lb!!! And the sound is awesome cause carbon is very strong material but its elastic too...

I just can't imagine this sounding very good, is carbon fiber dense at all like mdf or? If it's strong yet elastic, doesn't that mean it's going to stretch when a harsh note hits? From your pictures those boxes look tiny, are they built to spec or? I'm not trying to bust your balls or anything man, I just have a reeeeally hard time grasping how an enclosure made of plastic can sound as good as more traditional materials such as wood etc. What subs are those anyway? How much power is going to them? Any ideas on your db level or is it all just for looks anyway or?

Your speakers way more than 7lbs. You did save a ton of weight with the carbon enclosure...but you still added significant weight in the rear past the rear axle. Given your guess as to weight of the enclosure you are still looking at like 100 lbs or so in audio equipment.

I liked your rims. If my car were white i woulda loved to do something like that to brighten it up. Luckily PB is all the color i could ever want. Nothing would go with it either, its not blue, its not green... nothing matches except chrome or black.

I think he meant when you get into an accident it will suck because carbon is strong in the direction its molded in but not when it gets tensioned beyond a very limited range... anyone whos watched a race with carboned bodied race cars knows once carbon goes it really goes, its not a very stable material,,, the safety equipement in race cars(roll cages and impact zones) are really what keeps the cars safe... I think he meant its gonna suck because you will most likely be injured more seriously...
Anyway still eagerly awaiting any thoughts you have about my earlier proposition, in regards to a carbon roof panel w/ moonroof cutout...

Yes i know all these but check out on youtube about a video of a wrecked carbon rx8..The carbon parts have only small cuts and that car after flying around 10meters on the air,saved 4 people!!

The roof..Well you can buy it bro but you should find someone to install it..Its a proffesional job..He can have one for you easily

Carbno fiber does not flex much, once it reach it's flexing limit (not alot) it breaks in a brittle fashion and will cut like knife through better though all softer materials (ur neck).. it is one reason why having a carbon fiber hood in a head on high speed collision is dangerous.

one more thing, carbon fiber is strong, but it is not tough.

I give your body shop guy the credit for this creation. It takes some effort to get carbon layed properly.

Its over the top... but like all things, theres people who do things modestly and others who take it to the extreme. this car is to the extreme.

Its easy to say you dont like it, it takes a little more to appreciate it for what it is.

Personally I think that the car looks hideous. There is way to much going on. I dont know whats going on with that hood but what is that V shape there for? Is it just for looks or does it have a purpose? I love orange cars (I myself have a TT Lemans 350z) but the colors are too seperated, It looks like a dalmation that has black spots. But I guess if you are happy then thats all that counts.

Is it just for looks or does it have a purpose? I love orange cars (I myself have a TT Lemans 350z) but the colors are too seperated, It looks like a dalmation that has black spots. But I guess if you are happy then thats all that counts.

i noticed it wasnt yours as well, but it does look awfully similar and actually had me thinking that all that hard work went down the tubes..

The "vents" in the top of the front bumper are excessive, so is the extra carbon fiber at the back of the side skirts. The wheels don't really flow either...still A for effort though - must've been a painful process.

I dig it! But you need to give some credit to VeilSide after all there is still some similarity and you need to get a better camera.

If you plan on racing it, loose the subwoofers. Theres one guy in a s2k at a local autox and when i am in the timing trailer, EVERY time he pulls up to start he has the same song playing... its dumb... the same song every time. I forget what song, but its one of those ones about driving thats overplayed. and no its not "low rider".

If you plan on showing it, then ... great. I cant imagine what the color must look like in person. I know how Phantom blue looks in person and NONE of the color comes through in photographs.
