Or was the the Pettit S/C... I still need to do that AND relocate my battery...ugh tajabaho1 07-27-2008, 01:54 PM mazsport doesn't relocate them, I think it was pettit anyhow, I think you should bring it out at least to where the dib stick is olddragger 07-27-2008, 05:44 PM scott you have seen mine. i used the mount from mazsport and fabed the resthttp://www.rx8club.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=124058&stc=1&d=1217198594 HPIM0035.jpg did i pot it correctly? olddragger olddragger 07-27-2008, 05:53 PM damn wrong pic--the preveious one is top secret dont look heere is the one i meant to posthttp://www.rx8club.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=124059&stc=1&d=1217199159 supercc.jpg i hope! olddragger swoope 07-27-2008, 07:46 PM damn wrong pic--the preveious one is top secret dont look heere is the one i meant to posthttp://www.rx8club.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=124059&stc=1&d=1217199159 supercc.jpg i hope! olddragger yep, i did not see anything in your intake smoothing job.. i am sgt. shultz.. but, i still have the stock wiper fluid holder.. none of that new fangled psi enhancer stuff.. i think i am going to hang it off the air pump bracket. i still have that, or it goes down below.. got to go under the car anyway.. btw, could you get the rr to happen in sept again? beers  Silver_Surfer 07-28-2008, 12:28 AM I was looking/thing of a place wheres there easy access and the filter has lots of air to blow passed it. olddragger 07-28-2008, 10:37 AM some guys have mounted it on the fenderwell. if anyone does that use real stainless lines. the header is on that side also and you really dont want a leak there. alas no rr per nasa. and the only thing i could come up with is a end of the sept event at Road Atlanta with the bmw boys. That would be too far for yall to drive. although if you have ever ran on RA you would never forget it.:) NASA had to cancel their oct event (was to be at barber) i am watching that to see if they reschecule somewhere. OD tdiddy 08-04-2008, 07:30 PM Here is where I mounted mine. Its easy to get to and you can fit a rag under it when changing the filter. http://www.rx8club.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=124539&stc=1&d=1217896169 swoope 08-05-2008, 11:34 PM thank you, i thought i might get a few more hits on this! but that helps!!! beers  Here is where I mounted mine. Its easy to get to and you can fit a rag under it when changing the filter. http://www.rx8club.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=124539&stc=1&d=1217896169 G3RX8 08-06-2008, 01:54 PM wouldnt you you want the filter striaght up so it is eiaser to take out and you can prefill before puting it back in tdiddy 08-06-2008, 02:15 PM wouldnt you you want the filter striaght up so it is eiaser to take out and you can prefill before puting it back in Its upside-down in the OEM location so Mazda doesn't think you need to prefill it. savedsol 08-06-2008, 04:35 PM I believe that's what he meant. Vertical with the filter on the bottom. The problem is space. I'd love to move mine but I don't mind scraping up my wrists a few times a year. G3RX8 08-06-2008, 06:27 PM i know mazda doest think so but i thought aftermarket parts are to improve things. just moving it to the side, i dont see any real affect. FastRX8 08-06-2008, 10:43 PM wouldnt you you want the filter striaght up so it is eiaser to take out and you can prefill before puting it back inExcuse my ignorance, but what difference does it make if you prefill? I never thought it mattered?:uhh: Jedi54 08-06-2008, 10:48 PM prefill? never done that before. Great thread Swoope, I was JUST having this conversation with a forum member this past weekend. swoope 08-07-2008, 12:08 AM prefill? never done that before. Great thread Swoope, I was JUST having this conversation with a forum member this past weekend. it would be a good thread if we got some more photos and ideas!! beers  gregs 08-07-2008, 12:43 AM tdiddy can you still mount your engine cover? gregs 08-07-2008, 01:04 AM i have always been afraid of this also because have heard this can lower oil pressure? paulmasoner 08-07-2008, 01:20 AM it would be a good thread if we got some more photos and ideas!! beers  well, here's one idea: i've seen a remote mount over near the washer fluid bottle area... just outboard of the bottle... mounted upright though... swoope 08-07-2008, 01:26 AM i have always been afraid of this also because have heard this can lower oil pressure? pressue will not be lowered unless there is a leak. the system is closed. beers  swoope 08-07-2008, 01:28 AM well, here's one idea: i've seen a remote mount over near the washer fluid bottle area... just outboard of the bottle... mounted upright though... i dont know that it can reach there, and it is tight. right now i am leaning towards the back side of the air pump bracket.. or what ever i find under the car. have not looked there yet! beers  paulmasoner 08-07-2008, 01:42 AM i dont know that it can reach there, and it is tight. right now i am leaning towards the back side of the air pump bracket.. beers  good spot... especially if that bracket isnt holding an air pump :) swoope 08-07-2008, 01:45 AM good spot... especially if that bracket isnt holding an air pump :) it is, but i think i can make it work.. i am not a big fan of the cel.. but more photos / ideas!!!! please. i really thought this tread would get more traction.. and i am doing it this weekend.. and getting the photos of other stuff people wanted! ;):) beers  tdiddy 08-07-2008, 12:21 PM tdiddy can you still mount your engine cover? Yes, but I had to do some cutting on it to make it work. it is, but i think i can make it work.. i am not a big fan of the cel.. but more photos / ideas!!!! please. i really thought this tread would get more traction.. and i am doing it this weekend.. and getting the photos of other stuff people wanted! ;):) beers  no CEL. AccessPORT FTW! mounting it on the airpump bracket is going to take a lot of braided stainless line. olddragger 08-10-2008, 09:22 AM and it would not have anything between the unit and the header--remember guys with relocation kit small leaks happen not infrequent. i would not advise placing it directly over the exhaust area. the fenderwell or the firewall (windshield washer) area is about all the choices available--unless you want to run some really long lines. If so you could get into actually helping cool the oil with the lines and a cooler type oil filter---good thread--more join in. OD |
