View Full Version : Tein stechs made my car crooked!

As the title states, the springs I bought dropped the front end, but alot more than what I've seen on other 8's lowered in stechs. (which isn't the problem :) )
but what I've noticed is that the rear end did not drop at all and in fact looks like it raised a little. The car now stands crooked and leaning forward.
I read a thread last night about someone who had a similar problem with rb springs and all he had to do was loosen the A-arm bolt and let it settle for 30 minutes and then retighten them? would this also fix my problem? Thanks in advance! :D

preloading is only for the front, you cannot preload the rear. The s-techs naturally lower the front alot more than the rear, it maybe normal

are you sure it's installed properly? assembly order, spring position, etc

as you can see from the first pic, the front end is clearly lower while the rear looks stock or even higher

whoa, something is NOT right with that install.
I'd get in there and double check to make sure the springs are sitting properly. That looks HIGHER then stock.

Looks like you got them in backwards. :eyetwitch Try swapping front to rear.

+1 on the springs being backwards. I think that's your problem right there.

i dont get it though, the front springs drop the car 1.4" and the rear .7"
I don't think having them on backwards would cause this to happen.
and my mechanic installed them for me... I called him today about this and he told me to bring it in and he'll see what he can do... :/

The drop is greater in the front relative to the stock ride height, but the front and rear springs are not the same length. Installing the fronts (which are longer) in the rear, and the rears in the front will do exactly what you see in your pictures :)

the springs are probably backwards.

remember that front and rear suspensions put different "loads" on the spring (different length of things), so the same spring in the front will cause a different drop than the same spring in the rear.

the fronts have a stiffer spring rate than the rear, so if you put the softer rear springs in the front, it makes sense that the front is so low. and if you have the stiffer front springs in the rear, it makes sense that the rear is so damn high.

Raise up the car using a jack (use the scissor jack if you dont' have anything), remove a wheel and take a look at the spring (or maybe you can get behind the wheel from under the car w/o removing it). You should be able to see the letter "F" or letter "R" somewhere on the springs. Make sure letter "F" is in the front and "R" is in the rear.

When I installed my springs I made a stupid mistake (rushing) putting the rear sway bar back and it caught on something causing the rear to sit like that. I ended up bending the endlink. Just a thought.

I preloaded my rear. I had to adjust a shit load of points but My car sits lower than the OP's at the front and rear!

...and Astral and I both installed Teins on our 8s as well as many other combinations.

can you elaborate on this? my rear doesn't look like yours and I have the same springs.
