I "checked out" the new site. The markup should provide a handsome profit.

I will be there in visitation mode.
The closer it gets, the more I hate I am not driving.

Thanks for pointing that out, I fixed it this am.

We will be there with some guests. We will have two cars, one with a sick motor we will be trying to fix. The good car will be in the enduro and the lightening races. We have to park on the pro side and I am a little concerned abouit getting our rig up and down the hill. I know lots of others have done it, but we get pretty heavy sometime. I hope some of y'all will come by and see us, even though we are out in the boonies.

Rob, I will most certainly be stopping by to see you guys. What's up with the sick motor? I don't suspect the HOT days are going to do it any good.

As expected we had an absolute ball

The weather was somewhat abnormally cool on saturday and nobody complained.

In addition to the weather cooperating, one of my students was a no show so I had only one student all weekend, what a difference it made allowing me for a lot of hang time.

Trackaddict and I had a ball riding in each other's cars and again learning some good stuff from each other.

Lego was again disturbing public peace in the 7 and enjoying the camaraderie of his RX-7 driving student.

Dano, Don, & Danny came to hang out and we all had good laughs

James was there with his luxury Volvo ride and laid down some respectable times in such as heavy and cushy car.

Ron was there with the Spec Focus and he even let me take it out for a session on Sunday which turned out to be a ton of fun.

I did not see much of Rob, I hope they had better luck in the fresh engines. In my 1/2 session in Ron's Focus Rob's student spun right in front of me as we were pulling out of turn 5, its a good thing I saw the first little wiggles and slowed down immediately fully expecting what was unfolding in front of us. From my vintage I saw no issues aside from a possible flat spotted tire on the Roar car.

I finally got to ride in Russ's rocket ship and came away very impressed at the overall feel of the car and its speed capabilities.

It turned out I needed the extra time on Saturday as I might have over driven the car a bit at CMP and as such my tires became over inflated (from the added heat) they wore out in the middle, and one got corded.

Unfortunately, there were a ton of pebbles stuck on the tires rolling surface after CMP and that prevented me from seeing the cording issue while I was inspecting the car for RA. I immediately felt something was wrong on my first session saturday and a quick look at the now clean tires revealed the culprit. So I had to punt and rely on Sasco whom had a grand total of 1 RA-1 to help me out.

With some help, was able to figure out the pressure and proper location for the new tire but alas, that was not good enough to beat a pretty competitive TTC field and I finished one spot off the podium even if I did get my best time ever at RA (1:45.03).

2 lessons learned on this one.

1) Always clean the tires and inspect thoroughly
2) Keep a close look at tire temps until the proper pressure is established for that particular track / day

On the plus side my new cat-back has added a much needed racy and loud V8 rumble which now plays proper American Iron tunes as it reveberates off the wall coming down the front straight. That goes a long way in fulfilling my childhood fantasy of being Parnelly Jones battleing for the Trans-Am title in a '70 Boss Mustang

.

Had a great time this weekend. It was great to see all the drivers - Lego, Kurt, Francois, Russ, the Cliffords, and James (Volvo S60R) and the visitors - Dano, Don, John, Denny, and Bradley. I wasn't too good with giving rides this weekend since I started the day off showing cord on my tires and I needed to be able to run in 3 TT sessions. I ended up driving about 4 sessions all weekend. and ended up with cord showing on all 4 tires. It was a bit of a gamble but I felt it was going to be OK. Congrats to Levent for winning is class. I took a win in mine too soundly spanking James' 360hp turbo AWD Volvo S60R.
I'll be back at RA in September with BMW. Looks like it is just me from here. Russ is on the waiting list and the event is pretty booked by now. Maybe some room for instructors...

Guys, I didn't hang out for very long but it was a lot of fun for the short period I was there. It was nice to just talk, ride around to the track viewing areas. Went over to the Pro paddock and chatted with Rob and Jody for a few min. Jodi and I discussed the cool suite and I went over to Discovery, ready to drop $388 and he was out! Seems when you walk through the paddocks you find someone to talk with every time you turn a corner.

I can't remember all the names but people recognize me because of photography. There is a camaraderie that develops among drivers that is addicting in itself. I haven't driven enough to know all these guys on track but I can see how it gets stronger as time goes on. It's always a treat to see everyone and I look forward to the next event.

All of you guys rock!

I guess you were pretty scarce Don! I didn't even know you were there. Of course, I always seem to have 2 students ... which leaves precious little time for socializing during the day. It was good to see everyone for what little bit of time I had.
