I have a set of O.Z. Ultraleggeras that are a bitch to clean! So many spokes and corners!

I have been using a microfiber cloth soaked in car wash solution but it's a serious strain on my fingers and it takes a lot of time.

Does anyone have any recommendations for cleaning tools for a job like this?

or you can get soem wheel acid...works liek a charm.... just spray let it sit...and everything from dirt, grease break dust..anything will come right off and ahve your rims loooking and shining as if you jsut got them..and thats a bet

Wheel Acid? Are you kidding me? This is bad advice. Too harsh for painted surfaces, chrome lug nuts, and polished lips. I hope no one used wheel acid unless you have stamped steel wheels. Wheels need gentle care. ;)

For regular washing I just use my wash mitt. The wheels and exhaust I save for last since brake dust can cause scratching. Wash the wheels, rinse them, and then dry them first with a seperate drying cloth. If you let the wheels sit around drying w/o a cloth the dust will harden again. Dry it off asap and then switch towels for the rest of your car.

Once a month or so you should consider doing a detailed with a tire brush but unless you're running on track/autoX on a regular basis you should be able to get by with the mitt for normal cleaning.

The wash mitt gets washed right after so contaminates from the wheel are gonna be off before the next wash.

+1 for ultraleggeras being a pain to wash... i was happy to have a painted wheel to replace my old chrome. The dust wipes off real easy compared to the chrome but theres so much more surface area...

Have you tried waxing the wheels? I think i heard we can do that to prevent the dust from sticking so bad... any comments on that?

Wax might not be so good but as long as your wheels are clear coated you can Zaino 'em. Little Z2 with some Z6 makes the dust go away. :)

I've always waxed my past rims to keep them slick and easy to clean. But I am not looking forwarding to waxing these Ultraleggeras! LOL

Maybe I should consider a liquid spray wax instead of messing around with a liquid paste. Any recommendations on spray wax? I know they may not be as effective as pastes and buffing but maybe multiple uses may be easier than a real waxing.

Are the ultraleggeras clear coated? Its a fairly flat black but theres a little glossyness...

When i clean them i normally just wipe the face and sides of the 12 spokes... cant be bothered with much detail... just the big green bone sponge and it gets what it gets... OEM used to annoy me with all the corners... lol... at least these are 1000x easier to clean than chrome.

I got a big soft sponge with these little microfiber tentacles... cleaned em up perfect real quick.
