09 MTs now idle at 3500rpm for 180 seconds (3 minutes!) :Eyecrazy:
In comparison, earlier years only did so for 10 seconds.
This was probably done to prevent flooding as the car would heat up faster.
Personally, I hate it when a car does this; I always wait for the car to idle a while anyway. My brother's K20 engine Civic did this very bad too. It feels like the engine is self-destructing as soon as you start it.
Also makes me wonder about folks who test drove the 09s claiming much better response in the low RPM range- although it's also b/c of the new gear ratio, could it be the car is still on fast idle when they drive it out (so the car is actually applying some of the throttle)?
