View Full Version : Its Rationalization time!! How many of you have two sports cars?
cogsNsprockets 07-20-2008, 03:44 PM The way its looking, Im probably going to keep my Z for a while and the RX-8.. Should be interesting going back and forth between the two.. How many of you have two sports cars? What else do you have?
Honestly, I have gone between the two, first the Z then the RX-8 and the two drive completely different.. I was thinking I would feel really slow in the RX8 but no.. It felt like a different car altogether..
CompMan 07-20-2008, 04:35 PM I would sell the Z and put that money into the 8, and just make it insane.
kvndoom 07-20-2008, 04:36 PM If you can afford it, knock yourself out!
LandYatch 07-20-2008, 04:57 PM Would having an RX8 and a 1976 Vette with no engine count? (no seats, 3 flat tires, no back glass, etc)
I can give you impressions of driving the 76, but it would consist of me sitting on a tool box behind the wheel while making engine and squeeling tire noises with my mouth.

Love that!
FABRO 07-20-2008, 05:02 PM I have a 2005 Rx-8 and 2002 Subaru WRX does that count? Im doing just fine with two vehicles and paying off my other bills as well.
Huskyfan23 07-20-2008, 05:08 PM You have both a Z and an 8? Wow. Hats off to you if you have full coverage on both vehicles.
I love the 8, and couldn't imagine getting rid of it. But you could probably get close to $40k for both vehicles. That gets you into new corvette range, or one hell of a down payment on a new M3.
That's the route I would go.

Im glad you made sure you clarified where the squealing noises were coming from:sweatdrop
cogsNsprockets 07-20-2008, 05:11 PM Sheesh, who owns new cars outright these days, Its all about financing!
Huskyfan23 07-20-2008, 05:26 PM Sheesh, who owns new cars outright these days, Its all about financing!
Who owns two somewhat high value cars and finances them? My 8 payment is $500/mo, I couldn't imagine that amt x 2.
If you're financing, sell one. Waste of money to have both if you don't own either outright.
xsnipersgox 07-20-2008, 06:46 PM the insurance would actually be alright, since if it's one drive on them, he can only drive each one 1 at a time.
LandYatch 07-20-2008, 07:16 PM I guess I am in sad shape. I have more cars not running/torn apart than I have running.
The good news is you don't have to add the "not running" cars to your insurance.
The RX8 starts, has kinda sorta AC, and everything currently works on it. That's RARE with the rest of the cars.
Heck, the AC resistor switch in the wife's Tahoe just crispie-crittered two days before we take it on a trip to west Texas. Guess what I got to replace today! I probably lost 3lbs of water weight changing it.
Yeah, got an 04 RX-8 and a 94 RX-7
RojoOcho 07-20-2008, 08:30 PM Me! Hahaha...

9291150 07-20-2008, 08:52 PM How 'bout my 8 and 3 motorcycles? If I had another sportscar, it would have to be a softop.
cogsNsprockets 07-20-2008, 09:05 PM If I could, I would have a car/truck for every purpose.. sort of like my tools..
robrecht 07-20-2008, 09:58 PM I still have my old Miata in the barn garage ... but I need to replace the radiator and alternator belt on it.

i see one sport compact and no sports cars. :eyetwitch
Have the rx8 and the mitsubihi FTO :)
FTO is not worth much, but love her to bits and been using her as a strip and rebuild project for ther past year :D
robrecht 07-21-2008, 10:01 AM I still have my old Miata in the barn garage ... but I need to replace the radiator and alternator belt on it.I forgot to include the rationalization part. My 4- and 6-ear-old boys love the Miata as much as I do: top down, special time wit Daddy without the little/big brother tagging along, etc. I've always said that since I have two kids, I ned two sports cars for the inheritane thing to work out right. But with $4/gal gas prices, the Miata's 40 mpg highway is also sunding like a pretty good justification for keeping the Miata.
rglbegl 07-21-2008, 10:24 AM Mine = RX8
GF = MR2-Spyder (see avatar)
We have 6 seats between the 2 cars. Mine is the grocery getter, hers is the mileage mobile.
architect 07-21-2008, 10:59 AM Are you talking about a 350Z or a Z06?
I've had my 03 Z06 for 3.5 years now. I bought the RX8 new back in August. I owe 5k on the vette and 9k on the RX8. I hate paying interest so I've been doubling and tripling payments.
And yes, the RX8 feels like a dog in comparison but definitely holds its own around the corners.
CyberPitz 07-21-2008, 11:12 AM RX8 + 84 RX7...mmmmm
onefatsurfer 07-21-2008, 11:28 AM I still have my old Miata in the barn garage ... but I need to replace the radiator and alternator belt on it.
Interested in selling the miata? I'm in the market for one, pref. the 1.6.
Slick8 07-21-2008, 11:32 AM Or the time
1999 Z3 2.8 Roadster
2004 RX-8 GT Turbo
I would sell the Z and put that money into the 8, and just make it insane.
delhi 07-21-2008, 11:47 AM The rx-8 is technically not a sportscar according to our insurance company. :) So you are good to go.
But personally I'd sell one of them. Put that into revenue generating income. If the 8 works for you sell the Z. Else keep the Z and get a mazda3. Saving money FTW.
StuttgartRX8 07-21-2008, 01:13 PM RX8 and Skyline
robrecht 07-21-2008, 06:20 PM Interested in selling the miata? I'm in the market for one, pref. the 1.6.It would have to be a pretty good offer. I presume I could get more by selling my summer wheels (6.5-lb CE28Ns) and hardtop separately. Has a newly re-upholstered leather interior ... oh you can get most of the details here:

04RX8man 07-21-2008, 06:33 PM only the 8 for now haha....in the search for something turbo charged for the weekend rides haha.....supra anyone?
zaksblaklabel 07-21-2008, 08:04 PM we have 2 in our household. the 8 is my girlfriends and i drive an srt-4. the mazda is bone stock as of right now. warranty just ran out, so we're gonna start modding it soon. have a few more things to buy for the neon, after that, think we will start with a nice set of coilovers for the 8.
