View Full Version : Waxing in high heat!
altspace 07-20-2008, 09:45 AM Waxing in 95 degrees and almost 100% humidity
Marc (Zelse) and I spent 5-6 hours detailing his black RX-8 in my garage. I must have lost 3 lbs of water just from perspiring during that time. In the end it was all worth it and we journeyed out for some photos. Hope you enjoy.

Jasonawojo 07-20-2008, 09:51 AM Looks great, and yeah, nowadays it takes a little consideration to decide to stay out and work on it this long heh.

DavidR 07-20-2008, 11:41 AM Nice! High heat and humidity at night time owned me last night. I don't know how you did that during the day time lol
altspace 07-20-2008, 01:08 PM The humidity was brutal for sure. If I did not have help I would have never attempted it that day.
I used my PC7424 for all applications. Car had smooth surfaces from clay bar before hand.
Process
1. Wash/Dry
2. Menzerna PowerGloss
3. Poor Boys SSR1
4. Meg's Step 5
Was planning to put on a coat of Natty's Paste Wax Blue, but after all that we were simply beat from the heat.

north eastern probe owners club???
Thx all. NEPOC is New England Protege Owners Club that started years ago when all of us owned a version of the Mazda Protege. I had a Protege 5 before my 8. So the name of the club just stuck with us.
Zelse 07-21-2008, 08:50 AM thanks guys for the compliments. :) Took us seemingly forever but like Josh said, about 5 hours. Good times.
416to212 07-21-2008, 09:47 AM Some really nice pictures.
I happened to like one very much in particular but I had to PS out the lamp post and overhead wires... Here's the editted picture - I think it's a bit cleaner and more focused on the car.

Zelse 07-21-2008, 04:42 PM Nice edit there 416. :x Definitely helps the picture out big time. Thanks again guys. Some point I'll stray away from the completely stock look. At least the wide tires and springs help.. :x
MadeULook 07-21-2008, 11:25 PM Nice pictures. Appearance Package FTW!!
PBlue 07-22-2008, 07:27 AM you know its hot when you cant even wash the car in direct sunlight... tried at 3pm on a july afternoon in FL.
about 95 and 2000% humidity. as soon as the water hit the car, it was gone. i was literally spraying water spots onto the car.
re-washing at 9pm probably looked pretty weird. but then i saw some guy washing his camaro too.
altspace 07-22-2008, 08:23 AM Good thing was that we had some overcast cloud cover from time to time.
Some adjusted Lomo effect photos.
