To be named later 07-17-2008, 06:14 PM The only thing I used it for was to determine what the high-end resale retail was for the RX8, and to find where there were some RX8's to test drive. Gotpam? 07-17-2008, 06:16 PM Dually noted thanks. To be named later 07-17-2008, 06:34 PM I've known several people who have purchased from carmax and been satisfied. But they do charge extra for that "peace of mind" of having the 30 day warranty, their thorough check of the vehicle, and their guarantee. IMO the RX8's they were selling for $16,995 to $18,500 (typically) can be picked up for $14,500 or so privately. Gotpam? 07-17-2008, 06:48 PM They have one that i'm gonna go check out this weekend thats an 04 GT for 15k but its got 50k miles on it, and i'm not sure to much about the vehicle history at this point. The report they did said it was taken back to the dealer for emmisions work, i'm assuming that was the standard recall. I'm test driving it saturday so i'm going to ask about the Flashes and what exactly the recall was that it had done. I mean its a very clean car, the exact color and package i want to and i'd rather not settle on the color or packaging....i can handle the 04 thing and the miles dont bug me cause its not going to be driven much in the next 3 years. myriadshalaks 07-17-2008, 06:56 PM no haggle - overpriced - ridiculous financing options. To be named later 07-17-2008, 06:56 PM I would presume they know very little about flashes.....it could pass all their tests and they may be unaware what the flashes are and I would presume unable and unwilling to do the flashes. I think they say they allow independent inspection. I would suggest maybe getting a Mazda dealer to give it a look.......if it passes an authorized Mazda dealer inspection and you buy the car then it comes out of your wallet, if it doesn't, then carmax (if they really want to sell quality cars like they say they do) ought to pay for the inspection and the cost of the flashes, regardless of whether you buy it. Agreed, great idea. It also said something about this was a leased vehicle which i have mixed emotions about not sure wether thats good or bad. I'm just trying to find a mechanically sound 8 for a DD so i can put my 7 back on baby status after just having my engine rebuilt and and it can go back to a weekend fun car. kersh4w 07-17-2008, 11:10 PM a carmax lot was where i fell in love with the rx8. i came back to this beautiful ti-gray gt 3 times. Revvittupp 07-18-2008, 02:11 PM There are few dealers that can compete with Carmax on pricing... I knwo that no dealership i have worked for has sold a car for that much money to anyone with half a brain. It is basically the most expensive option possible in acquiring a used car. |
