I just talked talk to MazdaTrix, they are taking longer than expected. Do to, that they are taking step bye step pictures of the process. SINCE IT IS THE FIRST ONE DONE WITH THE EIBACH SPRINGS

CHECK BACK TONIGHT SOMETIME.

my car is done and has been picked up by mikeA
mazdatrix says it will take about a week for the car to sit correctly because the springs must settle in

After MANY spring installs on RX7's over many years, we have a policy of telling all customers that most new springs tend to "settle" a little after a few days of driving. Therefore it is a little risky to pronounce the "final" height (change) dimensions after only two trips around the block.

So - ignoring what I just wrote above, the drop after ONLY TWO BLOCKS of driving:

LF: 1/4"
RF: 5/16"

LR: 5/8"
RR: 7/16"

We did ask MikeB to measure the height after a few days and call us back so we will have a "better" measurement of the final drop.

Road feel was very nice.

Do you have to align the car after changing the springs?

You should and I will have dealer do it in 500 miles when I hit 7500 for tire rotation

Agreed on the settling. An alignment afterwards is a good idea, but wait for about 200+ miles or 2 weeks for things to settle... unless things are seriously out of alignment.

A lot of us are doing suspension tonight.... I'm still working on JIC coilover install, and it's 3/4 of the way done... lots of pics tomorrow ;)

The suspension feels the same
IT isn't stiff or too hard
the suspension still feels like the rx8 100%
I expected it to be stiff or kinda harsh but it feels just as good
if not better with the springs.

Maybe it will change when the springs completely settle in

Looks awesome Mike. I'll be looking forward to hearing your more detailed driving impressions, after the new springs have broken in a bit. I'm especially concerned that the ride might become too harsh. If it doesn't I may get these springs, or maybe the JIC coilovers....

Lookin' good mikeb!!

I've been running around all day with my jic's on and, it does ride almost like stock.

Have you been pushing the car in the corners? I think that's where you will notice it the most (much less body roll).

Didn't want to thread jack, but since you asked: There's a link to an album at the bottom of the page, there's some pics. I'm the blue 8 without the front lip. You really needed to see in real life to see the diff in the front gap between stock and lowered.

When I picked up the car from MazdaTrix for MikeB, I talked with Dave there. He has the JIC Coilover kit & and he said it was a bit to stiff. He is working with a few comapany's to find something right in the middle. I drove mikeb's rx8 w/ the Eibach springs on it and it was GREAT. "JUST RIGHT"

Agreed on the JIC's, but you can get the JIC's with custom spring rates.

However, for the daily driver that is not pushing the car in every corner (or even drifting every corner), then coilovers with high spring rates are NOT for you!

You must also corner balance a coilover car, but you must set a baseline before this. If you ever change the height, then you must re-corner balance.

If you are an enthusiast, have a lot of speeding tickets, play on tracks or don't care about class in autox, or if you tires wear very quickly, then the JIC's are for you!

But you can get the custom softer springs, and the JIC's would be magic for average daily driver over rough bumps.... at this point cost is a concern.

With the eibachs, you are increasing spring rate. The stock dampners (although a major brand), are pretty weak IMHO. If you do just want springs, then get some good matching struts to go with the package! After 3 track days, my stock struts were done. This was on stock springs at the time, too.

Hey Mikeb,

Is it me or does the car sit a bit lower in the rear compared to the front? The gas lid is trick by the way....and who gives a damn what the high school/eclipse kids are doing on there cars, I've never noticed because I never look at those damn things with annoying sounds coming from their crome cannon-tipped exhausts....ok enough.....I'll get mine when the price get's a bit more reasonable.
