View Full Version : How packed have you had ur RX-8?
AstronomerB 07-07-2008, 07:34 AM I think I'm working on a new record.
I'm moving from Northern Alberta (Fort Mac) to Vancouver (BC).
I don't own much stuff (So I thought)
but I have two large telescopes
1 LX200 12" (320lbs) complete tripod and astrophysics equipment setup (+10G)
1 10" Dobsonian
All my text books
All my clothes
Laptop
And a bunch of stuff I had no idea I owned!
Driving 15-18 hours!
Just enough room for a pilot!
I gotta show you pictures... SHE'S STUFFED!!!!!!
I can see out my passenger mirror so Im good to go:)
Anyone else ever pack it up?
Im leaving my company so I had to return the company truck..Not used to not owning something with room hehehe
Rhawb 07-07-2008, 08:10 AM I loaded my 8 up pretty good when moving a few years ago, but my spare tire blocked out my trunk pretty badly so I couldn't overload it too extremely. I still did a pretty good job though - I know I've piled the passenger seat up to the ceiling on a couple occasions.
04RX8man 07-07-2008, 10:13 AM I believe there is already a thread on this somewhere....but I'll Post again!!! I moved from Pa to Fl and packed my 8 UP... 20 hours of drivng trunk, backseats, front seats, under my front seats everywhere you can think of i had stuff, ALLLLLLL my tools, clothes, 19" tube tv, stereo, everything except funiture and a bed to move into a new apt and i got it all in there haha the as* end was sitting low haha but not too bad!!!

Wow!
That's hard to beat!
My record so far:
Had to pack for a weekend trip to my friends wedding and for a track-day
- A full set of tires (4 track tires)
- 2 Hydraulic floor jacks
- Helmet, overall, etc. trackday stuff
- Suit, shoes, clothes etc for three days for me and my girlfriend
Three day trip, about 1000 miles of driving. Good thing that i had the tires delivered to the race-track so i only had to bring them back with us.
See the video of the track day:

Too bad that weather was a bit rainy...
Bastage 07-07-2008, 11:03 AM people:
2 adult passengers
2 kids in car seats
stuff:
2 rolling suitcases
2 laptop cases
1 playpen
1 diaper bag
2 backpacks filled with kids closes
1 metal 12"X10"X10" toiletry case
2 collapsable chairs
couple of bottles of wine and random drinks
Loading all that stuff felt like a game of Tetris, but I got it all in there. We went on a trip to TN/NC and left the kids in Orlando with my parents, so we weren't quite as packed once we unloaded the kids and their stuff.
Silver06 07-07-2008, 11:10 AM Do we REALLY need another RX8 in Vancouver???? Damn, they're getting more common than 911's....:mices_bla
lol!
Welcome, and have a good drive. Watch your speed!!!! I've noticed :ahem: aggressive enforcement in the Okanagan and Vancouver area this summer.
When you get here, join the BC RX8 club. It's only $20, and I hear you get a keen sticker (if I ever get mine, that is....).
You've all got me beat. The only big things that I have ever moved in it are my bicycle, which I take often, a airconditioning unit that I bought at Sears and put in the passenger seat, box and all, much to the shock of the salesman, and the rear axle, rotor to rotor, for a 1967 Alfa Romeo. Not all at the same time.
