http://i302.photobucket.com/albums/nn93/chrismarko7/new%20hotness/P6280013.jpgBeautiful, keep it nice and clean, don't need no body kit and crazy paint jobs on such a pure sports car IMHO.

BTW, is that your wife looking on or just a curious neighbor?

i got a few kits in mind and some wheels......the front plate is off already, the car shifts exactly like the 8, rides a little tighter than the stock 8 but not as tight as my car was modded.....nothing some springs, and sways wont fix....as for the mx=5 being a chick car apparently you never seen any scca or autocross events huh?.....ever drive one?....with the dsc turned off it scares me!....the basic feel of the 8 is in the miata because they share the suspension, trans, and so many other pieces so it feels like home...but now i only have 2 doors and the top comes down

chrism
06-28-2008, 09:03 PM
cosworth has a supercharger and there are some turbo kits.......plenty of ls swaps, 383 swaps, 13btt swaps.......my car is just under 2500lbs so any power in it can make it surprisingly fast....with just bolt ons you can make 160-175whp

I'd be careful about going too wide without adding significantly more hp. I'm not very familiar with the NC, but a lot of NA and NB owners ruin the handling of their cars by adding heavier wheels. The 6.5-lb wheels on my '93 are delightful, especially on the rough roads around me.

Great choice! You may remember the red Miata parked next to me at LRP? Or the one I drove behind on Friday on the race track from my in car video? That's my friend bruce. I kind of like the classic sports car look of the Monocraft mh1 RHT kit:

http://www.ab-carsshow.com/mh1/rht.html

They're a Japanese turnkey customizer, in the past you couldn't order their pieces as a kit. I imagine that's still the case.

I know, I know it's not what most people are looking for in a body kit, but I'm an old-fashioned sports car kind of guy.

But, in the meantime, I'd sure like to see if Mazda resurrects the RX-7. Life is good.

so i saw this car yesterday and i'll say i was a little jealous. it was pretty nice and sitting in the car and feeling the wheel and shifter, i could barely tell the difference between the feel and my 8. it's got a nice interior too, and it just feels good. plus it's brand spanking new and it does look good.

so i was pretty jealous. no lie. plus i've put a second gen mx5 through the paces and they are a BLAST to drive. A lot of fun like the 8, just a littler loser. i heard the kind chris has is much tighter and technical but still fun. what would you say, chris?

it only takes 12 seconds for the top... it's pretty pimp.

xsnipersgox
06-30-2008, 07:10 AM
i drove one at autocross, i have to say, i like the 8 more maybe cause i am used to longer cars.. and.. 9k rpm XD

chrism
06-30-2008, 07:14 AM
i would never put the 8 down because i loved mine dearly.....the handling in my opinion could not be touched when you lower it and add some sways.....and yeah the im not going to be able to get over the silky whirrr of the rotary as you flip through shifts....but torque in a lower rpm in a lighter car cant be easily dismissed either.....both cars have thier place and merits....

Looking good Chris! Love that color and the hardtop. Enjoy! I know you will.
Is there a Supercharger in it's future?

Yet it's hard to reconcile the Miata's "chick car'' reputation with the fact that it's the most popular car among racers in the Sports Car Club of America.

sounds like its one of the favs in SCCofA there cornholio... and your statement only goes to show you drive the 8 perhaps to make up for other shortcomings in life? need a manly car to cover up your feminist self?

there are a whole lot of mods in its future.....cosworth is on the list....

What kind of rims are you getting? RPF1's, RP03's, or even the JS+M's look sick and they are all light.

What kind of rims are you getting? RPF1's, RP03's, or even the JS+M's look sick and they are all light.

havent decided on rims yet because if i go with the rx-8 calipers (which might happen soon) and rotors i need to get 18's at minimum for clearance...and i need to stay less than 17lbs per wheel (stock) because i am not trying to throw off the balance......i have only had the car a few days but there seems to be a ton of mods that i can do, stay in a good budget and make it a monster

did not know you were going to cry.... I will leave ya alone....:rollingla
heard less crying from a preschool playground...

no one is crying....just proving you to be an uneducated tool....that is all

RPF1's in 18x9.5 are 17.4 pounds each. Don't know if these are too wide though.

chrism
07-02-2008, 04:03 PM
they fit if i stay with a high offset.....stock is +55 so i need to be near there

RX8 is hardly called a manly car though. Manly car would be a mustang or a dodge charger with chrome wheels which I hate with passion...:lol2:

Don't get me wrong. I do not think RX8 as a "chick car" either. So don't go putting words in my mouth.

aside that...

Chris....great choice in color.....congrats! You gotta put up some topless pictures.....I wanna see the interior....those seats look cool...:)

Stay with silver. Please. Oh wait, it's your car, I forgot.

Cosworth is super cool. That would be a great power to weight ratio in a light-weight car that's still fantastic in the corners. I wouldn't worry about voiding the warranty on a Miata ... but recall that was part of the reason you got rid of the 8. Less confident in the 8's reliability?

That wheel gap has gotta go!

the right gold wheels will look killer...white is rteally nice too but you know very well white wheels = impossible to keep clean and over time will become dingy...

Personally id do gold or bronze black will fade into the car and look bland unless you get some sick polished alloys...

yeah.. that's kind of what i was getting at. i didn't really notice it when i was down there on sunday but looking at some of those pics you got they're pretty euro, which i'm not a fan of either. they don't look bad, but i bet you can find something better.

and i agree with klepto. the bronze rpf1's in 17 will look pretty sick.

i might just do 16's to save more weight

maxxdamigz
07-03-2008, 12:44 PM
How are you going to fit Rx-8 brakes inside 16s?

chrism
07-03-2008, 12:48 PM
the brakes can be shaved to accomodate 16's.......there was some one here who had the fd rims (16x8) and the brakes....they were just trimmed a little bit....and i would have them painted and cleaned up before i install them

A.Mair
07-03-2008, 04:09 PM

the only people that ive had experience with saying white gets dirty or cant keep it clean, dont clean their car,,, plenty of people dont have trouble with white it just take a lil bit more maintenance,,, owning an 8, a person should have no prob with a lil bit more maintenance...

im still looking for the perfect wheel but already bought the mazdaspeed/aem cold air intake, got rx8 sways, and have the 7lb race exhaust (roadster sport) from good-win racing on the way....

Congrats Chris! I love the stormy blue on anything! It's about the only other color I'd have wanted to have on my 8. I see you didn't wait long to start moddin!

Rotr8
07-07-2008, 08:04 PM
are they the 8 OEM sways, and do they actually gain anythig in performance, I guess they must since the 8 was built as a heavier car, so I guess their lateral load wil be be broader,,, If the OEMS fit why was your decision to go with the factories as opposed to a proven aftermarket such as RB, Hotchkis, etc??? please tell...

chrism
07-07-2008, 08:37 PM
the oem 8 sways are thicker and more rigid than any of the aftermarket sways....its kind of a cheap underground mod i guess but definately works from what i read

backstabber to the wankel society no just messing around great looking car thou i my self would hafe chosen gray mica i was always thinking of getting a mx5 speed but in iceland we can us convertibles 3 times a year so it is of no use to me but yes as you wear saying the mx5 shears a lot with the rx8 and its handling is pretty fucking great and also it has 50%50% weight like the rx8 and i like it a lot thou it would do with a touch of power but i can see you putting that in order

try nearly 30k sticker for mine....and as for driving the rx-8 part there is so much shared that the only thing im missing is the sexy, silky smooth pull of a rotary

sebarx8
07-12-2008, 08:24 AM
ah you are not missing anything the miata is a complete diferent beast
if you miss something is the rear seats

robrecht
07-12-2008, 09:08 AM
Isaac Newton would drive a Miata. As long as you don't need the rear seat, the PHRT Miata is a great car. Only thing better from a handling and power perspective would be a 16x 2-seater coupe if and when Mazda brings back the 7.

tajabaho1
07-12-2008, 09:20 AM
I think the only thing missing are the rear seats........... my friend's gf used to drive a soupped miata, and that car was uber fast @.@
