Just wondering if anyone has the Sirius satellite radio installed in their 8 and what their opinion of it is. Can you keep your 'regular' radio setup the way it is? I'm thinking of getting this for Christmas.

I have Sirius satellite radio, I installed it this past weekend. I am still using the factory radio. Sirius is connected via an FM modulator. So far it's been great, I'll give you an update this weekend after I have some time to really mess with it.

I had installed the XM Delphi system. Very nice and only $10 a month. You should check out the "Audio and Electronics" section of this forum.

I though the stock HU was Sirius satellite ready so all you had to do was get a tuner and activate it so that you didn't have to use an FM modultor. I heard, but have not confirmed, that all 2004 Mazda radios would be Sirius ready.

The stock head unit on the Mazdaspeed Protege is Sirius-ready. This is because they used an off-the-shelf Kenwood HU. No other current Mazda models have satellite-ready systems (Ford, more so than all the other auto manufacturers, has really dragged its feet on this).

Don't know about other 2004 Mazda models.
