At least your insurance covers it.

Cuz there are people out there are just jealous cuz they know that their sorry ass can only afford a beat up 92 Civic for the rest of their life (and they can only live up to 30 or less )

somehow my car unlocked itself (not the first time) last night and apparently someone reached and let out the parking brake. my car rolled into the car in front of it.

i just got it back from the bodyshop last saturday for a new front bumper. that thing was pristine... now... it has 4 scratches on it. one is a damn screw imprint (pretty bad, paint is totally gone) and 3 small scratches like the key pics.

im so blown. :/

how does your insurance work? here in canada we pay about ~2k per year with 10 years clean driving record (for full coverage). and if we make a claim we pay $500-1k deductible then our insurance per year goes up $500-1k per year for 5 years.

and if we drive without insurance its a 1k fine and you lose your license for 2 years instantly. (compared to drunk driving which is roughly the same fine - actually less i think, and then you only lose your license for 1 year).

if i made a claim, i'd basically pay for it and then some over the next 5 years of higher insurance rates... sucks.

I think your overpaying. I'm with Allstate. Clean driving record, and I pay about $1100. 2006 RX8 GT.

That sucks man. If you are not down to the metal and there is still base coat you can color sand yourself and buff a good bit of the scratches sometimes. I can't tell from the pics but there is a chance you won't have to repaint the whole panel.

how does your insurance work? ...

Details differ from state to state, and company to company. Rates go up only if you were at fault in an accident, or if you get enough traffic violations. If you rack up enough points or at-fault accidents you can get cancelled, in which case you go to a company that specializes in high risk drivers. Or, in some states, there's an "assigned risk" pool.

Having your car vandalized does not affect rates. Having it repeatedly vandalized may affect how good a deal you get on settlements, or whether your company wants to keep you as a customer. A friend had a car with factory option Recaro seats. First time they were stolen, his insurance company paid for replacements. Second time they were stolen his insurance company replaced them with something a lot cheaper. They told him that if he was still going to live and park in the same place they just didn't want to keep buying the same thief more Recaros.

When I had a car hit while parked, broken into, then damaged by a drunk punching the roof, all within one year, my agent advised me to change insurers.

canada doesnt have allstate... we have a few companies that are able to create a monopoly on the market... same with our wireless providers and other various businesses..

all state will take care of you, there is a reason why it's expensive with them.
