So, I was getting onto a major freeway, and I had to "get to speed" from 35mph into traffic (over accelerate onto the freeway entrance ramp because it is fun to do)

It was me with the wife in the passenger seat. Here is what followed:

Me : Gassss Gasss....whrrrrrr....speeeeed
Wife : (grabbing oh-poop handle and center console) Slow down!!!!
Me : Chill Honey, I'm only doing 65ish! (in my world ish = 80)
Wife : Oh, sorry, I thought you were going faster than that.

Mazda engineers are geniuses. They designed the MPH readout so that the wife in the passenger seat can't read it!!!!

Mazda thinks of everything. :)

Hehe yeah, a few of the Mazda clusters have that feature! :)

My girlfriend has commented on how safe my driving makes her feel. I contribute much of that to her inability to see the speedometer.

I think they have also put similar thought into the suspension because she loves the way it handles the bumpy nor cal highways. I mean she really loves it... :aroused:

Yes. It seemed that only the driver can see the speedometer. I had comments that it was showing great changes because passengers only see the left digit. But were confused because it didn't seem to correlate with each gear shift.

Yeah, but if my wife rides in the passenger side back seat, the display is large enough that she can read it from back there. This elicits a comment occasionally. :)

So funny how we are all the stereotypical man-children husbands and our wives are the stereotypical mommies.... What ever could be do without them.

I only get to do high speed hijinx when my wife's asleep. I leave a small pillow in the car so my wife can get cozy, oh and an exhaust muffling blanket thrown on top of her will net me another 15mph....

Hit the button to change the display to kmh. She'll see the big number, gasp, and pass out. Then you can enjoy the rest of the drive in peace and quiet. :)

Ya I've only had my rx-8 for a week and i'm still getting use to how fast it goes. I was doing 85 earlier and thought I was doing 60 something. You can't even tell how fast ur going unless u check.

What was the last thing that went through that birds mind?

You would be correct to answer "his tail feathers"

Head on collision, I'd agree.... But not in this case...
The front lip on the 8 caught it in mid-section and bent it in half. There was no blood, guts, etc. on the 8 - just a limp, folded-in-half bird body :(
