Does the new Renesis rotary engine eat spark-plugs like the rotary from the RX-3 my dad had when he was younger ?

define 'eat spark plugs'.... like the game 'hungry hungry rotors?'

generally speaking, changing it every 30k - 60k is about normal.

I was changing mine out once a year, but I used the rx7 spark plugs and they only cost $6.50 each.

could you please elaborate on the 'rx7' spark plugs? is there a specific year to get? turbo or non turbo? any difference in these over the rx8 plug? if they are the same and provide the same result as the rx8 plug, im going to stop buying $20 plugs...

The RX8 plugs are Iridium plugs ($20 each) and are supposed to be changed out about every 30K miles by the manual. Some folks here have switched to the "standard" type of plugs rather than the Iridiums (like Platinum tips, etc.) at ($6-$7 each). The tradeoff seems to be needing to change the plugs more often (every 10-15 K miles). Search on plugs and you should find what people have been using.

I just bought a spark plug cleaner from Northern Tool and Equipment for about $25.00. I am able to clean all the crud build up on the plugs to make them last a hell of a lot longer than normal. I do not think I will have to purchase new plugs for a long time since I have kept all the old ones. I now have about 12 spark plugs I can swap in and out as needed.

watch out for the cleaners... as our plugs are both platnum and iridium coated.. if the coating comes off, then plug wont function corectly

does the renesis "eat oil"?

No. It eats gasoline. It sips oil, kind of as a seasoning.
