I've had my Winning Blue, 6 sp for about a month with 600 miles. I'm getting mixed answers from dealers on when to change the oil/filter. I think the days when "break-in oil" was used are over.

One M-dealer said wait until 2-3K mi while another said as low as 500-600 mi. I don't know if rotary engines produce numerous wear particles during break-in that should be removed by an oil change.

Another dealer warning was not to rev the engine past 5000 rpm before the first oil change. I'm anxious to hear and feel 8000+. Either the users manual is vague in these areas, or I simply missed it.

Any suggestions? :(

Manual says change your oil at 5000 or 7500 miles, depending on your usage. There is no breakin oil or such. The manual recomends not hitting redline frequently while breaking it in (and the breakin isnt necesary, just suggested until 600 miles). Thats what I am doing.

I have read somewhere that a "breakin" period is not allowed in the comsumer laws of the US. To see what the auto maker really wants you have to look at a British owners manual where proper breakin is a big deal!

A good reason to delay the first oil change to 2k-4k miles is the factory filter that comes with the 8 is special. I don't know if it removes finer particles but the media and internal design are really different. The service filter you get is more conventional and has a different P/N.
