Turbo Chargers & MPG?

Generally speaking, I'm a little confused on just how turbos effect gas milage. But specifically, I'm wondering how you guys with turbos compare. When driving "normally" ;-) Do you get better/worse/same gas milage in your RX8?

... maybe I should buy out my lease when it's up and turbo my car. Thats what I'm thinking, because the price of gas is killing me but I can't find any other car I want to drive. Only thing I remotely want to drive is the Mazda6, but it's 21/29MPG are only with the 156 HP motor. Holy get-out-and-walk batman.

I yet better mpg now then before my turbo, but I believe that to be due to the accessport tuning more than anything else. 17-18 mpg with mostly city driving, and a decent amount of boosting.
