Are you going to the AI of Ft. Lauderdale? Just curious since I am in the neighborhood.

Also, I work for the Avid/Pinnacle dealer here in SoFla so if ya need help with that sorta thing let me know.

at least you're figuring out what you want to do, i'm in college and it's crazy how many people are here and don't know what they really want to major on.

Not me though, I declared my major freshman year...Classics! I bet i'm the only one in the forum...haha

There's nothing wrong with not knowing what you want to do.

On the other hand, in my humble opinion, it is only logical to select a major that will give you a job that pays well. I was very surprised when my English and History major friends from college were upset because they couldn't find a good job after graduation. English and History are important subjects, and very interesting - but what did you think you would do after graduation, get a $70,000 job?

Now obviously, you shouldn't pick a career you hate just because it pays well.

Your best bet, assuming your finances and class schedule permit it, is to double major. Have one major for the career that will put food on the table and one for the subject you really enjoy learning.

hey it cool just do what ever makes you turley happy and not temporarily statsifed. I swtiched majors 3 times and finally found one that makes me happy, double degree business/accounting. I know i am a sick puppy. and don't worry about money remember it is easier to love a rich women then it is to love a poor women.

That would be nice, although could pave the way for conflicts in the future....from what I've seen most people who develop a career that pays the bills don't really have time for much else when you factor in the things like family, taking care of other things like a house/car/etc.

Money always seems the biggest swing variable here. Being driven and more or less controlled by the almighty dollar can be good or bad depending on how you look at it.

I thought I was among the more sure-footed compared to my peers going into college. Now my outright passion and motivation have dwindled and I'm not as sure of the future as I once was. A lot can change in the college years, as well as those beyond!

Good luck eclps

When I said 'career that pays the bills', I didn't mean 'career that pays the bills for your mansion and ferrari'. :D

I work 40 hours a week, and if they pressured me to do more I would start looking for another job. I'm not out to retire early, or own a vacation home. I just know that if I had followed my impulse to get a degree in history or Latin, I would be making a lot less than the $48K annual salary I have now.

actually i was lucky in that I changed my mind as i started college, not some years after. All the way through high school i wanted to major in Computer Science, and i had never really had a job that didn't involve computers. Luckily I realized from working that computers were much better off as a hobby to me than a career, because when i'm forced to deal with them and fix other people's problems, it became a real pain in the ass real fast. So I have never taken a single CS credit here, and i can't see myself majoring in anything different than I am now, so i think it worked out for the better.

Good for you, man. I'm also fortunate to have parents that will allow me to 'find myself' in school. I switched from Comp Sci to EE...even though that's not too big of a change.

I declared my major in my college application :D

Sigh, didn't really have a choice. Either go with my heart and let family starve, or go with the sure thing and make a decent living ;) Guess which one i picked
