Yep, pretty much what I did as well. Best mod I ever made to the car was either the RB suspension package, or the goodridge stainless steel brakelines.

ss lines do MAKE A HUGE improvement on brakes. I got them put in when i di my brake job, running russell lines. None of that garbage spongy feeling, i feel like hte car will stop at any speed, with that firm hold. one of my favorite mods.

my fav non FI mod was a turbo kit.

That counts right? The car wasn't FI before I installed it.

A lightweight flywheel is a fun mod. In my case it was a Mazdaspeed.

Because I have reason to believe my engine was damaged due to the coils not using the same dwell settings as the OEM coils did. This was before there was even any mention of dwell changes or that there was any risk by upgrading the ignition system. Dwell is basically charge time to power up the coils. Since the mazsport coils are not like the OEM coils, they require a different charge time to be set. If your coils don't charge up enough, the spark will be weak. If the leading spark plugs don't fire or the spark is too weak to ignite the fuel, you risk massive detonation when the trailings do. In boost that can cause catastrophic damage.

In two weeks my engine will be torn apart and rebuild from scratch. The engine actually runs fine, and has normal compression, but the front iron housing is cracked and leaks oil. No way to fix it other than to rip out the engine and replace the housing.

Yes, for all my random dealings with FI and other performance mods, it was the lowly ignition coil that brought the behemoth down.

WOULD HAVE TO BE MY LAMBO DOORS. WAiting on my Stage 1 turbo with the works (all mazsport carries) hopefully I can later say "turbo kit"

I haven't installed my mazsport ignition mod yet -- plan to this weekend. I'm NA with a Cobb. Any advice before I install or how I use Cobb with it?

One of my favorite mods is new underdrive pulley -- seems to deliver better throttle response off the line (less hesitation). I also love the drop and performance of Tein S Tech springs

I haven't heard of any issues with NA use, likely because you don't need to ignite as much fuel. If you bought through Jeff, make sure to tell him to give you the map with dwell changes and hope nothing goes wrong.

The detonation I experienced was not something that happened all the time, so much like people saying "I didn't flood, therefor my car cannot flood", not having issues doesn't mean you cannot have issues.

btw, the issues I had was when I had the int-x, so it could be any combo of things that manifested in the negative outcome. You might not have any problem with the AP. It's hard to say.

Yeah, they did. It literally felt like night & day. Before my brake pedal went all the way to the floor to get the full braking. Now it is much more sure. When I apply the brakes even pushing it down halfway gives a better feel. Much better modulation

Shorter final gear or d2 coilovers.

Ooooor... if your cars paid off... it could be time to go say hi to a subaru dealership (STi time!) just remember... sounds like you've been around the block with your car... from NA to FI and back? and your falling out of love? Nothing wrong with upgrading...

My favorite mod is a MS CAI, just because of the sound it makes under full throttle. Plus its cheap and fun to install.

wait for the RB Header probably will be a moderate amount of performance but the sound combined with your midpipe will probably entertain for a while....

I would have to say my Trust Ti exhaust . Maybe it does not give me a lot of extra power but it sure sounds like it does . It really enhances the sports car feel of the 8 to be able to hear your rotary scream its lungs out .

OH - and i have the lw flywheel , short shifter , pulley, ecu piggyback and lots of other stuff but the exhaust is what does it for me :)

I have to lol that coils caused your housing to fail mysql. And didn't you encounter the problems when you were using an ap? So why is it also the int x fault too?

There are some serious bhr mm fan boys.

All of our mods are my favorite mods. They're all great.
For example, RotaryGod for his rotary knowledge.
Elara for her pink Darth Vader avatar.
And abbid for his hilarious comments.

I like my little bolt-ons all the same. Typhoon intake for a nice throaty sound, Springs for a stiffer steering, and midpipe for a little more power and some cool flames ;) Well worth $500 and a couple hours of time.

Each mod I get is my favorite till I get used to it, for example the Short Shifter is great and feels unique for about 2 weeks and then it becomes the new normal. Same with the SS brake lines, RB exhaust note, RP supercat, RB intake sounds, sways.

Non performance mods really make it an enjoyable ride. I really like the look and feel of the Voodoo Knob w laser engraving from Knobmiester, custom interior lights look cool at night and don't blind me with the door and front interior lights being red LED with the red factory floor lights. The stereo sucks without super tweeters and Basslink Sub. Window tints really help night vision by shading all those headlight beams of others.

If I were starting over, those are all things I would want right away. Probably sways first for no brake cornering. Then Supercat & catback

I have been wanting to go FI for a long time but need it as a daily driver and cannot justify reliability concerns, cost, voided engine warranty, and spousal wrath just yet for the turbo plunge. So prob get a COBB soon.
