My car came with some odd looking plastic device that looks like it might be for winding something. I found it in a clear plastic bag in the storage compartment of the drivers door.

Anyone any ideas what it might be?

It'll be the floor mat retainer. Fixes below the seat and stops the mat mooving.

I didnt get one, but then I supplied my own mats, dunno if it comes with mats or the car.

Ah that might explain it as the dealer threw in some mats for free. So am I supposed to attach it then?

gary. the drivers side mat is the only one that has a fixing bit - if your mat isn;t fixed to the ground, that'll be it.

The fitting instructions have the plastic thing saying it goes onto the passenger side mat - but thats because its the european model and thus doesn't help us in the UK.

I fittied mine myself - theres a little screw under the drivers deat that you take out with a philips head screwdriver, then pop the plastic bit with the hole end over the hole that the screw was in, then screw the screw back in place. then the sticky out end of the plastic thing should fit perfectly through the hole in the mat. Twist the thing when its through the hole in the mat and its held in place.

let me know if you want photos...

Sounds straightforward. Thanks!

Did anyone else get one of these with their mats?

I didn't get one when I bought my mats seperately from the car and need one asap!
