View Full Version : Reference Material for the RX-8
Ralph 12-28-2002, 06:39 PM Hi all, to give you a little insight as to what I'm panning, for what ever its worth... I'm going to be opening up a private RX-8 sight specifically geared towards RX-8 fixes (problems) and modifications. The sight will be forum based, much like this one (although will not be competing with this sight as it has completely separate goals). Some artwork will need to be rendered, and that’s where I need some reference material.
I don’t plan on creating any artwork for the interior yet, I only plan on building the exterior. Does anyone know where I can get some diagrams, or even just some direct head-on and side shots? I'd really appreciate any support, thanks!
Buger 12-29-2002, 05:05 PM Hi Ralph,
I'm not sure if you've seen the Autoweb article but it has a bunch of material that you could use. It has a bunch of pictures from different angles. Below are some:

We have 'tech guides' for some of the cars that explain different things :)
Might wanna swing by and take a look.
Toadman 12-29-2002, 05:30 PM Why is your site going to be private? Joining forces only builds more traffic for all involved. ;)
bulletproof21 12-29-2002, 07:49 PM Hey Buger, in that 1st auto-web pic, is that some sort of prototype rx-7 sitting behind the 8? Do you know of more pics like that?

Hi Bulletproof21,
That was the rx-01 prototype. There is a thread with a video and some info about it here: http://rx8forum.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=1418&pagenumber=1

Ralph 12-30-2002, 02:40 AM Thanks man, this is just the stuff I'm looking for. Thanks a bunch bro!
And Toad... To answer your question about my site...
I have 3 pretty decent talents, Interface Design (my actual job), 3D modeling (what I have a degree in), and the RX-8 (not really a talent, but diffidently my newest hobby!)
So I figured I'm going to put those to GREAT use. I'm going to generate a website with a fully geometrically modeled RX-8. This will bring our future car into the digital realm to a far greater extent. I plan on including interior and exterior 360s with selectable areas (flash based), the user simply rotates to the part of the car they're interested in either fixing, or modifying, and bam, they're instantaneously transported to the corresponding forum (forum pertaining to that section of the car).
Pretty cool huh? At least I think so. This will give the user a great kinesthetic ability, and will probably offer the greatest amount of customization (visibly) to the likes of their own RX-8 (color schemes of both interior and exterior and even body kits). I would more than welcome ANYONE interested in partaking in this endeavor with me. However I wont begin production until late next month. What do ya think? :)
Toadman 12-30-2002, 11:52 AM I like. :D
