Yeah, it is a cool gun and very expensive. He was shooting APITs about every fifth round (Armor Piercing Incendiary Tracers). These are about $6 a pop and the regular rounds are about 75c to $1 each. That gun cycles at about 1000 rounds per minute. Bottom line, it probably cost as much to kill the car as to buy it. :D

Hey, at least it was better than that silly gas explosion when they killed the hearse.

If a car's gotta go, what better way than to be riddled with about 40G worth of bullets?

I stared at this absolutely dumb struck. I can't believe that there's a group of people stupid enough to do it and there's an audience ignorant enough to accept it as entertainment.

Is this some perverted off shoot of wrestle mania?

SICK!

SICK! Yeah well, some people feel that way about rock music, pictures of nude women, body piercing, motorcycles and sports cars that go over 75 MPH. That's the nice thing about freedom: people with different hobbies and opinions coexisting in peace. As soon as one group of elitists starts imposing their "enlightened" will on others, freedom dies and we all exchange our citizenry for subjugation.

Yep. I hated to see that especially since I owned an RX-7 cnvt when I lived in SoCal and loved it. What a waste of a mint ride.

Given your handle I'm surprised at the amount of misinformation you gave. If that was a 7.62 minigun then it's an M134, capable of either 2000 spm or 4000 spm. If it was a 5.56 then it's an XM214, capable of either 2000 or 3000 spm.

Assuming it's a 7.62 then it's likely firing surplus ammo, typically 4 ball 1 tracer. You can get that for maybe $300 per 1000 rounds, or an average of 30 cents per round. Reloading it yourself is even cheaper.

The smallest APIT designated ammo is 50 cal.

The clip showed less than two minutes of actual firing, which even at 4000 spm is less than $2500 in ammo.

The clip was also edited down for the show. There's a full one floating around on Bittorrent that has 3 different sessions, the second one being about 5 minutes. The last one was also cut short for the show and was also near 5 minutes. They had another guy from the show for the second session. Cant remember the gun but I beleive it was a .50 and they said 3000RPM on the show?

Maybe I should find teh clip and check again :D

It's actually a pretty cool show, they show neat conversions and anything from mad max type DIY stuff, all the way to a custom handicapped mercedes SUV. Jesse James (the guy in the show) is one of the worlds top custom bike builders and is the founder of West Coast Choppers, which makes 75-150k custom Choppers. He is a master fabricator and a rather interesting character. The show really isn't about shoting and blowing things up :)

Delorean hovercraft anyone?

The clip showed less than two minutes of actual firing, which even at 4000 spm is less than $2500 in ammo. I stand corrected. I had thought it was .50. And why would my handle confer expert status? I am an enthusiast, not a staff editor of SAR. FWIW, I have priced .50 for local MG shoots and was using the prices I've seen locally.

Now perhaps you could enlighten us to how you became to know so much about these weapons. Are you a SOT or ex-mil?
