So I just bought my 04' MT with 17k on it. I am coming from a 93 MR2 turbo, and I love this RX8. I don't know any one in my area who has one, so I can't look in their car to compare. My question is, where should my oil pressure be? Its about two ticks above middle. I checked the dip stick, and it looks a little over full from the dealership. What are every ones oil pressure readings? Thanks in advance. Also the search only yeilds two responces, both un-answered so don't flame me. ;)

it is a pressostat so it just stays there to tell you there's pressure, it doesn't tell you how the circuit is working or how much oil you have.
Hope that the term "pressostat" is the right one, so says my vocabulary but you never know!

That's where the pressure is, all the time. I don't think it ever moves, it's a dummy gage. Don't worry about it unless you want to know your real pressure, then go for an aftermarket set of guages.

If the oil is just slightly overfilled, don't worry about it, it should go down some in a few hundred miles. Dealerships tend to do that b/c this car burns oil and most people won't check in between services. Keep a close eye on it until you figure out how much your car uses and keep it topped up. Mine usually burns 1/2 qt every 1500 miles. If it doesn't use oil, you're either not driving it hard enough or your OMP isn't working properly.
