View Full Version : Installing Hymee's kit today (15/11) - help wanted!
msydd 11-14-2003, 04:23 PM Guys, I think I'll get into the install this morning...
I'm around Crows Nest... if anyone is interested in helping out or having a look at the mess I create of my car...email me at my home address.
Wish me luck!
msydd 11-14-2003, 08:40 PM All done !
Great kit - Hymee.... now I can drive protected !
By the way... I found a dead bird jammed in against the main grill !
Just goes to show - if it had been a rock !!!
msydd 11-14-2003, 09:11 PM Other comments...
- With the kit installed - it's really clear that the gap is an oversight in the design at the front.
- I painted over the tops of the screws with some black paint - makes them completely invisible from outside.

You give new meaning to hymees grilled roast , well done did anyone help you???
msydd 11-14-2003, 11:55 PM No...a solo effort !
I think a little more notice might have helped round up some support.
pricer01 11-15-2003, 01:18 AM Congrats msydd
Am I jealous or what ..
Dr Hymee .... when will the next batch be ready.. pretty please??
me2 me2 me2!!!
I've got the front spoiler painted and waiting to go on. Where should I measure to look for a difference?
Kev.
Hymee 11-16-2003, 10:23 PM msydd,
Sorry I couldn't reply to now - but it looks like you got it done no problems at all! Great Stuff!
Kev,
I suppose you need to check for differences in the size of the lower opening. If the spoiler is something that just bolts on below the splitter, then I think you will be OK. Can you post photos?
pricer01 - the hardest thing at the moment is deciding how many I should make up this time!
Cheers,
Hymee.
Hymee,
How about Bloody Heaps!
NO, in seriousness you know what the demand is so common sense will prevail, that is of course so long as you don't leave me out!:D (Former LS1 owner!)
Do you miss your V8 at all? I miss the sound of mine.
Joe
I think the street beat exhaust will be the solution!
When's a local tuner going to get serious about importing bits for the 8? I'd be tempted to import an exhaust system if I though I had a hope of it not getting bent, crushed or mistaken for a portable rocket launcher in an xray machine.

LOOKING AT YOUR POSTS YOU NEARLY BEAT ME TO 700 POST BUT I DID SAY NEARLY .
By the way racing beat seem to have a nice exaust set up in development.
Ah that's it, racing beat - not street beat. I got the beat right, must have stuffed the melody :)
700 - wow, I suppose it's a sprint to a 1000 now. I don't think my poor old brain has another 300 thoughts in it. :(
msydd 11-18-2003, 12:49 AM I think 699 of L&L threads were ... YELLOW
Hymee 11-22-2003, 06:26 AM JoeD,
I miss the torque. But don't miss the rattle, the oil consumption, the weight...
I should be able top go and get the materials this week and crank up the production line again!
Just a very gentle reminder, in little letters, and not directed at anyone...
This forum is not a post race, unless of course the posts add value to the discussion, and are on topic.
If you wan't to have general chat, how about using an IRC channel?
And no - I am not grumpy cause England finally scored a try. Just doin my 'job'.
Cheers guys!
Hymee.
:D
PS - I think L&L should see Dr. Takahasi for the treatment of Yellow Feaver. :)

rob and I would probably ( sorry Rob, I'm assuming a lot here on your behalf ) put on all the beers and pizza it would take to engage your help as a hands on expert now on the Hymee install manouver if we can get kits down to sydney from the next batch ( Hymee - you up for bribes to shunt up the list ? * grin * ).
I 2nd the call for pix if you have time.
All those in favour.. aw heck, ay...

How many Pizza's and JD's is an original Hymee install worth?
Hehehe.
msydd 11-24-2003, 03:42 AM Sounds good to me !
Hell, if you're serious - quite a lot of pizza and JD I'd say, I don't drink as such but I'm willing to start * hee hee *
I've just posted my request off for the kit ( thanks hymee ) - so I'll be in need of some real help.
As I've said before, if it's a 1RU or 2RU 19" rack mount I'm right at home, but the front end of my 8, well it's the front end .. I know that might!
++dez;
ps: what's your passion - gormet, the hutt, domino's, pino's or maralina's famous by the way?
Hymee 11-25-2003, 01:35 PM Mmm,
Don't know about pino's or maralina's, but willing to sample :). Partial to Eagle Boys or Pizza Haven of late.
I'm not a big drinker, but since I had a tour of the JD distillery, Lynchburg TN, I am pretty hooked. Imagine what I would be like if I had a tour of the Mazda factory
Cheers,
Hymee.
msydd 11-25-2003, 03:15 PM Dez, let me know when you're planning the install and if I can I'm happy to come and lend a hand !
I'm not a mechanical genius either... but having done it once will definitely help.
I'm also not a big drinker... but the pizza sounds good!
Pappy 11-26-2003, 02:54 AM Dez, msydd, and Hymee,
Would there be space for one more Winning Blue to join the installation squad? I'll match Dez's Pizza & JD supplies so you won't go hungry nor dry!:)
I just don't have the confidence of dismantling that awesome RX8 face - but I'll happily attack any of your racks Dez!
Pappy
Hymee 11-26-2003, 06:28 AM Sydney dudes...
I have been tossing the idea around with Dez that I could come to Sydney for the weekend (+ some), bring my Wife + 2 for a small holiday, spend some time RX-8'ing and spending a afternoon/evening doing a few grills. If there was a few of you willing to chip in for my flight, and help with accomodation, in lieu of a fitting fee, then we could hatch a plan.
Wadya reckon?
Cheers,
Hymee.

Sounds viable, which weekend were you considering?
pricer01 11-26-2003, 07:15 AM Dez ..
Count me in too (or is that 3)
you know I'm in..
check dates, available flights etc, and costs, I'll more than gladly ante up my fair share, and then some if need be.

I'm sure we're all into the idea of a f2f to meet y'all and I'd like to think we're all up for a slice of the round trip and accom if only to pay homage * grin * for the now infamous Hymee's Bar and Grill kit or to do a group install / review / brag about doing it yourself [ homage to msydd ].
I'd take ( + some ) days off from the office too if only for more drive time!
bit of a roll call there for your PM list's kids.

Pappy 11-27-2003, 03:17 AM Yep - I'm in also!
BTW - Does everyone have that "RX8 Technical Highlights CD"? If not, let me know the numbers and I'll burn copies.

Thanks Pappy,
Just toss it in the glovebox, we'll meet on a on renDEZvous real soon.
Kev.
I'd love on please pappy - I tried to pull it off the web via a URL posted somewhere here but after a dozen tries and some six plus gig of failed data, I gave up.
I'd be most grateful!
I'm really pumped about next wednesday!
Kev, love the coinage renDEZvous - hee hee - you're a scream!
Fantastic to meet ya today - man that red paint is neat'o - and you've left me contemplating the explanation to Fiona my dear wife for a $15k investment in an AVI sound system upgrade * sigh * - it's like one of those ideas that gets into your head, and starts running around kicking the furnature over.. bugger..
Hey, any requests for the "renDEZvous" drive "MuCD"? I'm thinking of burning a playlist for fun so we're all crusiing to the same tunes, sorry if it weird's you out but for some reason it appeals to me - and you all know by now that I've got issues right?
++dez;
Hymee 11-27-2003, 06:25 AM renDEZvous - Kev, you da cleva man!
Regarding the roll-call/list of "GoRILLERS" (my pathetic attempt), I have had not any interest shown in a kit from
jaceey
takana
winning
And msydd already has one of his very own special original edition. One prospect pulled out because he thought the treads had dried up... Must have been while I was in the US and ppl were waiting for delivery.
Anyway, just trying to finalise numbers before I go and purchase some mesh off the roll.
Cheers,
Hymee.
Pappy 11-27-2003, 06:31 AM Dez - no worries, CD is burning away. I was fortunate enough to be able to download it in one go (but it did take almost 24 hours!). It will join the glovebox along with Kev's.
As far as your MuCD goes - burn away your favourites and we'll let you know what we think!
Catcha at the "renDEZvous". :)
Pappy.
Getting the audio all launched in sync will be an interesting exercise :)
Wildcard 11-27-2003, 06:50 AM Pappy, me too please. I've been after it for ages. Come to think of it, I started the thread here in the Aussie section, and I still don't have a copy. PM coming your way.
Hymee 11-27-2003, 06:52 AM Topic guys!! Go read your CD's in the Dez's lounge :)
Pappy: thanks again for the tech-cd copy! Shall indeed look forward to pawing over it - and as for the MuCD, I'll see if I can't DJ my way into the Hymee Banana Hall of Fame with a driveable mix for the evening. It will be Mix #2 for the drive nites - I might even do a T for next week if I get interest! Call me impulsive if you will..
Hymee: I'll get michael tanaka to sign up here and get in touch with you - he'll 100% take one as he's car mad and he's only had it for around 72 hours!
Kev: thats why we're all bringing radios * grin * - tune into channel 8 ( is there any other ) and on the count of 8 ( laugh ) push play!
DGW: I'll bring a copy with me up your way on the 6th December for the OneSteel move for you - I'll make it a tech CD + coffee for that hang over you're planning to have package * grin *
