why not take it one step further and ask for a cure for all diseases affecting mankind. diabetes, cancer, aids, TB, tumors, blindness, alzheimers, schizophrenia, etc. one wish to resolve so many issues.

cancer isn't a byproduct of natural selection/species population control, as well as some of the other diseases like alzheimers and schizophrenia that I listed. people go on living with those "diseases" for long periods of time, if not for their entire life with something else being the end reason they die. bird flu, SARS, TB, etc are items that would fall under the population control "hypothesis". But to believe in population control you would typically be an individual who believes in evolution over religion. Because if you were on the religious side to everything that is created, everything/one has a purpose in life and their "future" (as far as death is concerned) is already scribed in the tablet. I am a religious purpose and therefore take the stance of curing our diseases. If death for us is already written, then why not have the option of letting one crossover in a less painful manor. Some say without pain there is no compassion. Tell that to those who have suffered or witnessed first hand of someone who suffered. I watched my grandmother, aunt and uncle all die of cancer, and the pain the experienced and my family experienced was beyond what words can describe. Another reason why I believe in assisted suicides. We do it to loved family pets that we are held responsible for (when having to make that decision), why can we not choose that route for a suffering family member (if their will requests it) or for themselves. It comes down to a quality versus quantity of life decision.
