I caught something called a "Wolf fish" when deep sea fishing for Cod off the coast of Maine a few years back. It's not in the Top 10 ugliest fish list, but it should have been!

I didn't know what in the holy hell it was when I pulled it overboard, but then the first mate got all excited and told me to "stand back." He said he wanted to show me why it was called a "wolf fish", and took a 2x4 out. The damn "fish" lunged at it and clamped down with all its teeth. Then he proceeded to bludgeon it over the head with the 2x4 until it was dead, and then turned to me and asked me if I "wanted" it. Ummmmm.. no?

I don't think it's the ugliest fish on the list, but I sure wouldn't want to meet one while swimming.

The first fish I caught as a kid was ugly. It was off the coast of baja. When I brought it up it snarled and made grunting noises. It looked like an Angler or a Rock-fish I'm unsure, I was like 5 heh. I still haven't been able to find it specificially. It was beige skin colored and had a lot of teeth.

We threw it back too. I remember nobody wanted me to touch it, so it probably was a rock-fish.

yea we used to catch osyter crackers. very powerful jaws. just cut the line no sense trying to get the hook out of it's mouth.
