Hi All,
I have a new 2008 RX8 and wanted to remove the 2 badges on the rear trunk.
( The "Mazda" and the "RX8" ) before i break out the dental floss, hair dryer etc does anyone know if they are just sticky badges or do they have pins and nuts and bolt that go through the trunk lid.
Thanks
Stu
I am assuming they are just sticky but you know what is said about assumptions

The RX-8 badge is just the double sided tape but the one that says mazda and the actual mazda badge both have the pins and double sided tape. I learned the hard way.

the way to do it properly is to install even larger badges on top of the old badges. Just don't make use of this advice more than three times or you'll be sorry.

Removing the RX-8 badge is no problem. Here is my result.

"rotory" as in your name (rotoryman8)? Or "rotory" as in the ROTARY engine? You wouldn't want it spelled wrong on the car, that would be bad.

Thanks, yeah I had some other work done to the car in '04 and they scratched the trunk during the time it was in the shop. The owner of the shop offered to repaint the trunk and said he would need to order new badges because they would most likely not come off in one piece. and then I said
... (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HaxURLFn6jU) :lol2:
I asked if they could just fill them in and paint. He said they would weld in the holes, sand, prime, and then paint. Free! kind of...other work wasn't cheap.
Good Customer Service is the best way to say it.

I've ran with de-badging for quite a long time and am in the process of putting them back onto the trunk but just painted them to match the scheme of the car.
The mazda symbol has 2 holes, and the "Mazda" badge will yield 3 holes. Unless you're willing to explain why you have holes in the trunk or get them filled, I wouldn't bother. I've had to explain it away at car shows, and at meets long enough to finally admit defeat. It was spend $50 in emblems and paint, or $300+ to have it shaved, and painted.
