Crikey....................that would be a tough task. You better hit it just in the exact couple of right places. Even then..............not a good idea! :icon_no2:

Please tell me they didn't take this 22 to Alaska for protection.

Nah, they didnt hit it. about 50 yards away. even if they did, it wouldnt have done anything.

they walked for a bit longer and found a downed one that they scavenged meat from.

I didn't see the show (yet) but it must have been an AR7. A rimfire 22 wouldn't even penetrate the hide of a buffalo. You could hit him in the eye, but that would only piss him off.

Actually, looked alot like a cricket. seriously, really small rifle.

It would be hard to kill any animal over 20lbs with a .22

I swear they found the dumbest people possible for that show. My aunt was watching it and told me how one of the women were fishing with the rod upside down?

Kill a Buffalo with a .22?

Riddick or #47!
Grande Bollos....

.222 maybe; 22/250 definitely
Herstal FiveSeven (5.7 mm) only as a last resort; if you are slower than your friends

Riddick = The Cronicles of Riddick; killed a guard with a coffee cup.
#47 = Hitman

.222 very fast, .22 caliber center fire rifle cartridge.
22/250 even faster center fire rifle cartridge.

FN Herstal Five Seven = 20 round pistol shooting a 5.7 mm bullet (almost .22) at around 2000 Fps; Imagine a .22WMR rifle bullet coming from a pistol with 20 shots.
(No recoil, large muzzle flash, serious noise, my favorite gun to shoot)
:)

if you are slower than your friends = "You do not need to out run the Bear" (Buffalo), "you only need to out run your friend"

Sort of like throwing M&Ms at a police officer?

Actually turning some people loose in the wild is a rather good idea - we have been trying to escape from survival of the fittest to the detriment of the gene pool - just take a look at the latest crop of Celebs...

I was just thinking they had some single shot .22. Doesn't the M16 use a .22mm shell?

m16 uses a 5.56mm.

the .22 short is about 1/2" long. the .22 long is about an inch long.

the 5.56mm nato is about 4 inches long.

.22 casing is the same diameter as the round. the 5.56mm casing is about 10 times the size.

the diameter of the round itself is roughly the same. but the 5.56 is a longer round about 3/4 of an inch compared to 1/4" .22
