Has anyone bought anything from these guys? I found a MS replica kit on there made of urethane. I have been told to stay away from fiberglass kits for the most part, but is urethane any better? Sorry if I'm reposting, I just have NO experience on this matter, thank you to all who help. here is a link to the kit.

Alright, Bad experience? Terrible product/customer service? A combo of the three? Could you elaborate.

all of the above, not just my car, but a friend of mine's Civic Si as well. You won't even know how bad a kit can be made until you see what these guys produce, and then the way they try and put it off on the customer like it's somehow our fault etc. I've personally dealt with 2 kits so far, one was supposed to be for my car, body shop called me up and was like "are you sure you want this on your car?" because it sucked so bad. The other was for the Civic, same story, same treatment, same God awful kit. I've seen cars at shows with their kits, they have a big name and slick marketing, every one of those cars had hugemongous gaps everywhere, waves in the parts like the ocean, just plain awful. Here's a list of what I saw with our unpainted brand new kits:

1. didn't fit - fitment was brutal, almost to the point where a shop couldn't massage it to work, and evenif they did, it still wouldn't fit right.
2. poor materials - kit for the civic and my car were supposed to be urethane, well we had to destroy the civic kit and it definitely looked like fiberglass, not only that, but it was so amazingly wavy, I've never seen waves like that on a bumper/elsewhere other than when a car has been wrecked and the body panels are creased.
3. mounting holes missing - my bumpers came without holes drilled, and the sidemarker openings in the front were too small for the lenses to fit! (wtf is that?) In order to even attempt to mount them, I would have to drill my own holes, and somehow magically increase the size of the marker openings without destroying the rest of the bumper.
4. customer service. omg don't even get me started, these people "guarantee fitment", but when it doesn't fit, they won't take it back. I got told all kinds of excuses, how it fit perfect when it left the shop etc., well, yeah...there's no way in Hell or Heaven that can be true unless they molded it off a pedal car or something. I was the customer, and it was somehow my fault their product was defective, keep in mind I was having all the work done to the car PROFESSIONALLY as it had been hit and pushed into 4 other cars and in a bodyshop because of that, it's not like I was some backyard hack trying to fit a kit with duct tape and hotglue or some shit.

My mazdaspeed bumper bolted right up, no shaky sidemarker openings, no holes to drill, no grand canyon sized gaps, and I know for 100% certain it's not fiberglass as I've had some bad luck with it before and it's still in one piece. I know I could never say that about any of Ex D's garbage, ever.

Do yourself a favor man, just save up the extra cash and buy authentic, you get what you pay for in bodykits, every single time.

ED kit i ordered RAVEN, took a lot of work to get it to fit, try over 40 hours worth! doing it myself with help from a friend took about 2 months after work just about every day! if i had to do it all over, I would have definitely spent more money and ordered from another company. the only problem with that, is that no one else had this kit at the time and this one is not out there as much as the MS kit.
1. problems with Fitment, ALOT!
2. holes in all of the pieces under their crappy primer
3. had to cut off and remount the front lip bar at the correct angle then several hours of block sanding, filler, glaze and not to mention the thousands of pin holes.
4. cheap mesh, changed mine out to billet.
5. had to cut off 1 inch off the top of the side skirts to get them to fit the car and then reformed them using bondo glass and fiber glass mesh.

only good thing is that it is highly flexible over fiberglass and easier to work with. i hit a trashcan with the front and nothing cracked, i would suggest you getting urethane from whomever you buy it from.

Another tip, doesnt matter who you buy it from. the majority of the kits come primered, and also have mold release embedded in them. This will cause problems with primer and paint adhering correctly. Ever notice how a lot of the kits you see running around on other cars, have big chips in them and the primer is showing? This is because the prep was not done correctly. i figured this one out on my own, after primering my kit over their primer without sanding the whole thing down past their primer. the mold release came through and gave us problems with our primer sticking. I used dupont products for primer and paint.
Luckily i only did the primer. I had to sand the whole thing back down past their junk and my new stuff, re-primer, sand for imperfections, re primer, etc. glaze out, resand, then paint.

Someone should really send this link to ED. I would love to see their reaction to it. Having so many people bash their product and diverting possible victums away. This is priceless. ED = FAIL!

^^^^ sadly it wouldn't matter, for every 10-15 people on here that know better, there's a million dumbasses out there that want to cheap out their ride to fit in with the current import craze and don't understand the difference in knock off crap and authentic, properly manufactured kits.

edit: sandnsun, thanks for the tip, I'm pretty sure whoever painted my front bumper didn't prep it worth a shit as it chips like a mofo so I figured something was up, thanks for the heads up, I'll probably get it reshot at some point and be sure to mention your info as well.

Thanks sandnsun for the tip. I think I will add this to my thread to make sure people completely sand the bumper and primed it again to avoid this kind of problem.

NgoRX8
09-17-2008, 10:49 PM
and to think that should be self explanatory for any bodyshop... lol bodyparts usually come gel coated (releasing agent) or primed, but the surface always need to be sanded and primered at a bodyshop to ensure the surface is free of defects.

I bought the "killer looking" front bumper a way while back. The fitment is totally sh*t. I never even bothered trying to get a body shop put it on. It would cost a fortune to fix that piece of crap, and I doubt it would ever fit right. If you could get it to fit, it would look awesome, just like in their photos. I spent a fortune on junk. We should file a class action suit against them. I don't even know if those jerks are still in business. They won't be for long making sorry products like they do.

Learned my lesson.

Now, who actually does make a body kit that fits right? (other than Mazda Speed - way too expensive for what it is).
