They just quoted me $800 - $1000 to debadge the rx-8........... Seriously I almost wanted to say "FU" to the guy, lol he said that because there would be "holes" left over he would have to take the front bumper off and repaint it, and then take the trunk off and repaint the whole thing ................... to fill holes ............... All I know is that when I get my body kit I'll be going down to NJ to see this kenny guy everyone talks about.

well he is right about the holes being left over. they would have to fill the holes and then paint over it. i cant give you an exact for what kenny would charge but chrism would probably know. or you could get in touch with kenny and ask him.

Thanks, but I'd sooner put red electrical tape over the holes then pay a grand to have them filled. Or maybe get a mazdaspeed front bumper.

2 or 3 holes in the front, 5 in the rear and repainting both bumpers yeah that could be close at high retail......very high retail.....they have to fill the holes by either bondo or welding and grinding (depends on how good your body guy is) and then repaint your both bumpers to match.....

no holes in the trunk. I I just pulled all the badges off a mangled trunk a couple months ago (always nice to have spares). The trunk bades are just double-sided foam taped on. Don't know about the front.

the "rx8" on the trunk is with tape but the "mada" has 3 holes and the flying M has 2 holes

Whatever you pay you want to make sure you go to a reputable shop. Had mine done 4.5 years ago and still looks like it did from day one. I think I paid a 5 spot....

You need to weigh whether they will weld the holes and then fill them if they are going to feather or repaint the whole thing..... 1k is not exactly that far fetched but on the high-side.

I may have few picks below of the debadge..

I don't know It's not like I NEEDED the car debadged, I just wanted it done, so I figured hey I'll do it for $200 or so, and then when he says $1000 im like ...................... ummmmm yeah I'll deal with the badges to save 1k.

no again you are wrong...mine is an 04 which was built in 07/03 and was one of the first to be imported.......and every 8 that has debadged here has had holes...please stop with the mis-information because it may confuse some of the newer guys

Maybe he got his car used and the previous own debaddged it. That's the only reason I could think of.

Mine is an 05 and has holes.

How much are those flying M's anyways? Someone here cut one up into a mean looking M as opposed to the lame mazda logo. maybe I'll do that to mine. I cannot justify a lot of money on something so small.

i think they're like 12-25 dollars. you could probably catch one on ebay for cheaper.

That's a good deal! I paid about $300 for the front and back, that was about 2 years ago.

those holes are very minor. run down yo home deopt, get some wall plugs of some sort, paint them red and then stick them in the holes. it would look better but not be more than 20 bucks

do it right or don't bother for one thing, and yes, 1k for that is absurd. Unless they're using lead and welding the holes shut, sanding down the trunk to bare metal and sanding it to perfection afterwards and taking like a week for the trunk and a week minimum for the front bumper, and preparing your car to compete at the Detroit Autorama for the riddler award or some shit, then a grand is nuts. Sounds to me like they don't want to do it so they priced themselves out of the job and gave you a price knowing it would be too high, shops do that all the time here, I got quoted almost 900 dollars to install my rotors/pads a while back, and another shop telling me they wouldn't do it as it was a liability, even though the parts I used were name brand and superior to their top of the line "brands" they offer etc etc. Find another shop that wants to do it for a fair price, or just live with them. Putting tape over them or plugging them is sooo lame, please don't do that to your car, driving a 30k car with 2 dollar pieces of tape sticking otu the back?...c'mon man..seriously.
