Riley Craven 05-06-2008, 11:40 AM This article isnt about the RX8 or even mazda... but

if Kia is getting it then it must mean that Ford's exclusive deal with MS isnt so exclusive anymore.
So I was wondering, do you think if we started a petition here that we could get mazda to get it in the 2010 rx8 (it is supposed to be the major redesign year after all) Mazda is partly owned by ford even!?
kersh4w 05-06-2008, 02:00 PM ford owns kia/hyundai
alz0rz 05-06-2008, 02:03 PM ford owns nissan.. true story.
nycgps 05-06-2008, 02:08 PM Its pure business decision ...
I doubt Mazda will do it tho, consider they have Bose in their cars. Bose is the most pain in the ass garbage shitheads who just wont work with anyone else cuz they think they're the best. Hell if my Shinka has an option of *NO-BOSE*, I would've take it.
Now if I have to replace my stuff I have to pull pretty much everything out. pain in the ass.
JRichter 05-06-2008, 03:07 PM I'd just be happy with an auxiliary input... of course the newer 8's probably already have that.
mike73737 05-06-2008, 03:47 PM 09's will have an aux in.
robrecht 05-06-2008, 03:49 PM I'd just be happy with an auxiliary input... of course the newer 8's probably already have that.Yes, the 09 will have that.
Robonaut 05-06-2008, 03:56 PM Honestly, I don't know why Ford doesn't put Sync in the Mazda's already.
Mazda is supposed to be their "young and hip" brand so it seems like the obvious choice for technology like Sync.
Razz1 05-06-2008, 03:58 PM Music to my ears.
Blazed 05-06-2008, 04:04 PM Is there any way that we can buy this system and hook it up to our existing cars?
bendanjn 05-06-2008, 04:08 PM Genesis is also equiped with Lexicon audio system :)
I don't know how Hyudai got it though
Riley Craven 05-06-2008, 04:29 PM Is there any way that we can buy this system and hook it up to our existing cars?
That just might be the real question. Problem is I am not sure if anyone sells the parts to do it currently. Not to mention the fact how well it would work with our cars factory head unit.
I just cannot understand why mazda is SOO far behind everyone else when it comes to tech in cars, it just makes no sense, I've even seen radios back in 2000 that had the interface to display the station name and the song that was currently playing on digitial radios, for goods sake this is 2008! Try asking mazda dealerships about an HD radio option and all you get is a frackin blank stare!
Icemark 05-06-2008, 06:34 PM ford owns kia/hyundai

Aftermarket NAV has voice recognition ...
CarAndDriver 05-06-2008, 09:56 PM Mazda needs to improve their nav system first.
fahrfegneugen 05-06-2008, 10:18 PM ford owns nissan.. true story.

Not a true story
Riley Craven 05-07-2008, 11:05 AM So is nobody as passionate as me about getting the 8 alittle more high tech, or what? How did this break into a discussion of which company owns the other????
kersh4w 05-07-2008, 02:10 PM yeah, i dont know what i was thinking, hyundai/kia are owned by mitsubishi, which is owned by chrysler.

fahrfegneugen 05-07-2008, 02:23 PM ^I have seen that, kinda cool, but it is a bit out dated.
Icemark 05-07-2008, 10:11 PM Both Mazda and Ford owns 0% of Hyudai and Kia
Hmm not according to the NY Times:
Ever since Kia announced a year ago that it was unable to pay its creditors and filed for bankruptcy, Ford has been battling to protect its investment in Kia. Ford owns 9.5 percent of Kia outright while Mazda of Japan, 33 percent owned by Ford and managed by Ford executives, owns another 7.5 percent.
And then it appears that Hyndai also owns part according to AP:
Meanwhile, South Korea's Kia Motors Corp. reported a net loss in the first quarter as a weaker South Korean won increased its foreign currency debt burden. But its loss narrowed from 24.84 billion won ($25 million) from 30.58 billion won a year ago.
Quarterly sales fell 3.4 percent to 3.72 trillion won ($3.74 billion). Kia Motors is 38.6 percent-owned by Hyundai Motor Co., South Korea's largest automaker.
Investors reacted positively to the narrower loss, sending Kia shares up 6.9 percent to close at 13,250 won ($13).
