That's not a real gauge. The "oil pressure" gauge will be in the same spot all the time.

hey bambam,

Lionzoo is correct, the oil pressure "gauge" in our car is actually not connected to any type of sensor. The needle should theoretically move to the exact same spot every time.
Some people have seen it move ever so slightly one way or another but there's no proof that it actually indicates a difference in pressure.
A "real" Oil Pressure gauge would actually be fluctuating all the time.

ie; idle = 10 PSI, wide open throttle can be 80 psi.

Just disregard it or install some REAL gauges. :) (shameless plug incoming...)

I wouldn't worry about having to go back to the dealership, you should be okay. Have you been checking your oil level every few weeks? (keep in mind, this engine does consume oil as part of it's design) The car is equipped with a Low Oil light but I would not recommend letting it get that low before topping off.

Only 2009 and later RX-8 will get a *real* oil pressure gauge.

Ours is fake, sadly. Thats why a lot of people including Jedi and me, installed a real gauge :)

(P.S: Jedi, my gauge still pwns ur gauge )
