Hi guys just registered. Live in the UK and am only 22 and am desperate to get an rx8. Just bought an E46 BMW after selling my Integra type r. The rx8 is just what i want sporty and i have 2 kids so the doors are great. Any tips oon buying one am thinking of the higher power one obviously but i am led to believe the difference in power is only through ecu, hence chips and re-mapping can be done ??!! any advice would be greatly appreciated.

You've been led wrong! ;) The engines are quite different - the high power has 6 ports per rotor rather than 4 on the low power, there is a third intake tract on the high power vs. just two on the low power, and there is 3 fuel injectors per rotor on the high power vs. 2 per rotor on the low power. All of these changes are to enable better engine breathing in the 7000-9000 rpm range, which is where the high power engine makes all the extra power (redline on the low power engine is around 7000 or 7500).

Oh and no amount of re-mapping will make up for 6 gears, HID xenon headlights and alloy pedal set either.
Any chance this can be moved to the apropriate area mods?
