View Full Version : New wheels for Aipex8!!
Aipex8 05-03-2008, 03:53 PM Wheels are JIC Magic J-Force 05's in Glittering Black. Size: 18x8.5 +38 all around with 245/40 Fuzion ZRi tires. TPMS works, fits with no rubbing (obviously many run this size wheel). The finish is really cool looking, just a shade lighter than most hyper-blacks that I've seen. Anyway, on to the pics, let me know what you think.

fahrfegneugen 05-03-2008, 04:30 PM Good choice, looks good.
I have the same tires, lol.

HockeyRX-8 05-03-2008, 04:58 PM Looks nice!
bruce_van 05-03-2008, 05:14 PM I like the new wheels. Clean.
How are the Fuzion tires? The are priced right and I have read the tread design is based on the Bridgeston SO-3.
fahrfegneugen 05-03-2008, 05:42 PM I don't do any motor-cross, so I can't say anything about performance, but they are great for daily driving... No complaints yet...
Ross_Dawg 05-03-2008, 05:44 PM looks very clean! 19's might have looked better but I can appreciate the stock-ish look
RXei8ht 05-03-2008, 06:03 PM Clean... Very clean..
midlifer 05-03-2008, 06:06 PM Looks really good :icon_tup:
imput1234 05-03-2008, 06:07 PM Those look good. How much do they weigh?
TopGear8 05-03-2008, 06:09 PM Look similar to stock, but alot nicer.
WikkedOne 05-03-2008, 06:31 PM looks damn good man.. ALTHOUGH I don't approve of the illegal parking in the handicapped spot.
chrism 05-03-2008, 06:40 PM like it allot....very nice
WoodsOfGreenRx8 05-03-2008, 06:41 PM Wheels look good! Reminds me of the Gram Light T57-RC though!
Aipex8 05-03-2008, 07:02 PM Thanks guys. I really like them.
Those look good. How much do they weigh?
23lbs, I have the stockers that weigh 22.5 so they are a half pound heavier. Ah well, small price to pay.
looks damn good man.. ALTHOUGH I don't approve of the illegal parking in the handicapped spot.
Lol, don't worry. That's where I work and nobody works on the weekend, as you can see, the parking lot was completely deserted.
VarneyMazda 05-03-2008, 07:17 PM Those look soo nice and clean! Perfect choice!!!
pdxhak 05-03-2008, 10:07 PM You car is sitting at the right height and the wheels look great!
Time to paint your hubs though. Our rusted hubs really show when we put on aftermarket wheels and unfortunately takes away from the new wheels.
We need to hook up for a drive. There is a meet being put on by a local car club in Tigard in a few weeks. Someone else with a 8 is probably going to go as well.

I agree about the rust. I've got the kit to paint them black in my garage, just have to get around to doing it. PM me info on the meet, I'd definitely be down for that. Hopefully I'll have the hubs and calipers painted by then!
JRichter 05-04-2008, 10:49 AM Look great. I like how the spoke bulges away from the lip on wheels like that. They tend to look really cool in motion, giving off a chopping effect.

If you are more into the matte finish look, the shop I got these from had some of the Aluminite Black in stock too and they would look really good on Titanium gray also. Despite the name, they are actually a matte gray with a silver inner lip. The gray is the same hue as Ti Gray, just a shade darker.
Here's a pic from JIC's website (color is not a very good representation):

Here's a random pic I found on the intrawebs of the Aluminite Black on a Ti Gray 6 (you can see how good the grays look together):

llzjayarzll 05-07-2008, 02:07 PM nice!!!!
J8635621 05-07-2008, 02:08 PM I think the glittering black is more the color I'm looking for. Is there any way you can give me the phone number to the shop you bought them from?
r0tor 05-07-2008, 06:12 PM ^ +1 if possible...

r0tor 05-08-2008, 05:28 PM these are like a silvery-black powder coat finish and not like a black chrome highly polished finish right?

I can't tell you exactly what the process is, but it seems to be a silver powder coat over a black base (parts of the wheel that aren't showing are black, as are a couple nicks around the lugs thanks to the tire shop that mounted them). It is a more reflective, shiny finish than most powder coated wheels, but is not chrome or polished bare metal.
aliveoutofhabit 05-08-2008, 05:42 PM I am very impressed. I was considering those wheels. They are super clean.
How heavy are they?
EDIT:: 23lbs. Sorry just read through the thread.
That's pretty heavy for an 8.5" wheel... oh well they're still really clean.

The shop that mounted your wheels nicked them?
Aipex8 05-08-2008, 06:17 PM Yeah, a few nicks around the lugs. Didn't even notice until a few days later.
pdxhak 05-08-2008, 06:23 PM That sucks. I wrapped my key with duck tape to help prevent that. I hope it serves as a reminder to whom ever is working on my wheels as well :)
With in a week or so having my wheels mounted one of them got a rock chip so I know how you feel.
pdxhak 05-17-2008, 06:53 PM Couple pics of Aipex8's sweet looking JIC's in motion!
